5th Wheel Tailgate Change-out

Any of you have the louvered 5th wheel tailgate? If so, which one did you get and why?

My current OEM tailgate (Which I have to change....Don't ask why!! ) has the back-up camera and electric lock, do they make one that has those features also?

Thanks ahead of time, Scott

Not sure that I can answer your post, but it did make me remember a thread from a few years ago that went slightly awry. Some of us like to think of it as a memorable, classic thread that went slightly off-topic from the OP question. While you are waiting for a response, enjoy!!

Louvered Tailgate thread

It might take a while as the thread only lasted 41 pages!!! Sorry, couldn't resist!

LOL that is Hilarious41 pages about a tailgate that has got to be a record....ANYWAY I never wanted or saw the need for one BUT my truck I bought a year or so ago already one on and ya know what I like it I have no Idea of the MFG but I think it is a cheap one as the Louvers are plastic and the rest is Aluminum but it works good and I have come to like not having to lower the gate

Mine is a Schrumberg (spelling) and has the camera transferred to it. Had it for 5 years now. Would buy it again.

We do have the louvered V tailgate had it on both our trucks.it makes it easier for us to see the hitch to hook up and easier to hook up.Thats it. Forget the brand got it at a Truck supply store. Don't care about any of the other stuff pro or con.

I switched out my F350 tailgate for the louvered tailgate. It does make it easier to see when hooking up but as a bonus I picked up another 1 1/2 MPG. Much easier to maneuver in reverse when snow plowing too. I am not sure of the brand, it was cheap, as in around $200.00, but the trade off is it scratches and rusts easily even when painted with two coats of paint prior to installation. Not a big issue as a $2.00 can of cheap black spray paints fixes the issue with the push of a button. All things considered I like it better than the stock tailgate.

I drove through Portland Oregon on Sunday to pick up a used Stromberg. It is lockable which I think is nice. I also have an older fifth wheel tailgate with louvers. I did have it blasted and then pained white but it is always rusting. I like the Stromberg fifth-wheel tailgate.

Thanks everyone for the info, I think I'm just going to stay with original type tailgate. I like the looks of it better.

My 2015 F350 tailgate was stolen before I could make my first payment! While the insurance was replacing the oem gate I bought a Husky all metal 5th wheel gate with lock and camera mount, had it painted to match and love it. The oem gate is in storage.

My wife has saved ours several times (from me). I ask my RV dealer if customers replace with the louvered gate before or after the accident? He says about 1/2 & 1/2. He tells me I'll know when it's time#128534;
Until then, I'm still stock - like the looks and camera also.
