Michelin LTX A/T 2 TIRE PRESSURE HELP

Hello All,

Need a little help with tire pressure guidance regarding Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires on a 2017 Ford F350 CC Dually towing a 2017 Montana 3820FK with a pin weight of 3300 lbs.

The card on the door states rear tire pressure of 65psi the tire reads max pressure of 80 psi. I always ran max pressure of 80psi on my SRW but on a dually it just seams to be overkill.

If you are running a dually with these tires please let me know the psi your running and your pin weight.

Max pressure is just that ... the maximum recommended if you choose to run at that with those tires. Go by your door sticker. I have a dually with Uniroyal Laredo's and if I were to run max 80 psi in my rear tires, it would squirm around all over the road plus wear the center of the tread out way before the edges. I have that Tshirt as I got new tires once, the guy that mounted them filled them to that. As soon as I got home, I dropped them down to door sticker PSI.

I was running my AT2's on my 2011 F350 at 75
Had 2 separate blowouts on front tires never a problem with the rears
Michelin swore it was just a bad set
New 2017 F350 has same AT2 tires
Keep a eye on them

Keg I run 65 in the rear tires of my 3500 ram. Just pulled my 3582rl over 5000 miles last trip no problems.

Thanks Gents for the input I will run them based on the card on the door jam 75 front 65 rear. little scary that you had two blowouts of the same tire I will keep a close watch on them for sure.

I think the duallies use a 17" tire, but it looks like they too have problems as do the 20" ones. Check my recent post on our adventures with the 20" Michelins that come on the Ford.

I run 80 pounds on my truck and my MH. I see no reason to run less. They wear even and will support more load run cooler and handle better.

My 2017 Ford F350 CC DRW door sticker says 65lbs for the rear and 70lbs for the front. That is the pressure that I run in them pulling a 2015 3790RD with a pin weight of 3800lbs. I just finished pulling the trailer 8500km (5200 miles) with no signs of abnormal wear. Tires are Michelin LTX A/T 2 size 245/75/17.

Interesting, my 2015 Ram 3500 door sticker says 60lbs for front tires and 80lbs for the rear ones.

The Dodge is a 6-cylinder and the Ford, Chevy is a V-8. I would think the Dodge is lighter in the front, so you can run less front tire pressure IMHO.

Actually I belive the Cummings weights about 200 lbs more then the Blue Oval!

The Ford probably does weigh a little less than the Cummings. The Cummings is a cast iron engine while the Ford is compacted graphite iron. Cast iron is not nearly as strong as GGI so you haft to use much more of it to achieve the same strength. CGI wears much less than cast iron and CGI dampening vibration better than cast iron. Ever notice how quiet the new Ford diesels are.
A friend who sells engine rebuilding equipment, 25 years ago showed me an article about CGI and what a great material it is to make engine blocks. The problem was it was too hard to machine on a production basis. Then new tools and carbibe grades were developed so now it can be machined. We now have several new engines made of CGI Fords 6.7 diesel their 2.7 Ecoboost and Cummings new 3 L diesel come to mind.
