New 3500RL tomorrow!

I've been hanging around reading and learning for about a week now while we were making our decision to buy a Montana. Thanks to all you good folks here, I've learned a ton about Montana trailers.
We close on our 2005 3500RL tomorrow. We really liked the floor plan as soon as we walked in. The separate den is our favorite feature. I pulled it to the scales yesterday for a weight check as a final condition to the deal, if anyone is interested/curious, I'll post the weights.
Down side is we can't take delivery for 2 weeks because the dealer has to have this one for the upcoming RV show next weekend.
Thanks again for all the info I've gained from the forum.

Congratulations on the new 3500. I would suggest to put a caveat to your closing on the 5er that it is in the same condition as it is in now. Remember at shows you have children climbing around these units (not every parent cares what they are doing) also people are pulling draws open and generally looking everywhere, many of these people are only at the show to look and not the buy. Just a thought to bear in mind. Diana

Thanks. I had them put that in the purchase agreement as soon as they told me they had to have it for display at the show. It says, "anything damaged at the show will be repaired/replaced at owners request."

Welcome to the MOC. I just saw one at the Tampa show and it is fantastic. I envy you. Congratulations.

Hi folks, where can I find the floor plan and specs for the 3500. I have the '05 brochure but, it dosen't show this model. It does show the 3400 which I really like. Heck, I like 'em all! But, haven't seen this one.

Congratulations, that's a beautiful model. I think it's my current favorite although Vicki's is the 3400RL. We have a 3295RK and love it, too.

I'd like to see the weight numbers if you don't mind.

The 3500 is that new that it does not appear in any brochure nor on the web site. If Montana holds true to their advertising you probably won't see any specs or floor plan for months.

Keystone does have a brochure out that shows both the 3475 and 3500. I saw it 2 weeks ago when we ordered ours but the dealer only had one so I have photocopies of the pages with the floorplans and specs. I keep checking the website and nothing there has been updated.

Congrats on the 3500. We've just ordered the 3475 but our dealer has just received a 3500 that he wants us to see. He's confirmed with Keystone that we can change our order if we wish. We've seen lots of pictures of the 3500 but this will be the first real one we've seen. We're supposed to go see it tomorrow but we have a snow warning for tomorrow. They are forecasting about 15" so not sure if we'll get to the dealers. I suspect we will not change our order but both are great floorplans.

Hey guys I agree with Diana regarding the use of your RV at a show. I have seen unmanaged children going crazy in RVs at shows. I would go to the dealer and tell him that you will not close unless it is final for delivery.

We made it to our dealer today to look at the new 3500. It's a great looking trailer but we will stay with the 3475. We like various features more on the 3475 including more closet space, location of washer/dryer and the open concept. We did notice a couple of other things today on the 3500. The pass through storage compartment looks smaller and they had a new interior colour called Suede. It's beige in colour and the chairs, couch and window treatments are definitely suede looking. It also had a nice looking beige carpet. We suspect the suede may stain a litlle easier than the regular colour combos though.

The 3500 is beautiful though and I suspect it will be a very popular model. It's good they make so many different floor plans to make all of us happy.

Steve, that picture was taken in Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia and the rock carving is a tribute to the local fishermen. We visited the east coast provinces in June 2003 and loved it. We will return in the next year or two. If you haven't made the trip, it's really worth it!!

We're getting buried in snow today. There's about 15" forecast but I suspect we may get more the way it's coming down. Oh well, I guess it gives us time to think of our Monty and better weather.

Here are the weights from the local Flying J Cat Scales.
These weights are empty with a 225 pound salesman sitting in the back seat of the Silverado along with me and Kay up front.

Hitch weight 2140
Axle weight 10140
total empty 12280
% hitch wt 17.46%

Although the specs say 37'10", the tech at the dealer said he pulled a tape on the length and it is 39'.

Check with your dealer. They have printed new 2005 brochures and the 3475 and the 3500 are in it along with the weights and heights.

Wow the weights from the flying J seem a bit higher than the posted specs...did you have the propane tanks filled or empty?

thanks

I was able to get over to my local dealer the other day and see the 3500RL and 3475RL. These are both beautiful units. Moving to a new model would require me to trade to a new truck and add the 5th wheel hitch. I just can't seem to make the $$ work out for me. So, we've decided to make a few upgrades and enjoy the unit we have. Anyway, the dealer did have brochures with the new models. Enjoy your new rigs!!

I later discovered that one grey tank was full and the other was 2/3 full. Also had a 225lb salesman sitting in the back seat of the truck.
Later weights, all water tanks empty, propane tanks full, fuel tank on tv full, Kay and I in the front seat are:

03 Duramax tv

TV
steer axle 4400
steer axle 3100

tv with trailer
steer axle 4340
drive axle 5120
trailer axle 9920

11880 trailer wt
2020 hitch pin wt.
17.00% hitch wt %

It's still heavier than specs, but not as much after draining all the tanks. Trailer weighed as it left the dealers lot, before we started loading in our stuff.

How is the 'towing' with the Duramax?? What is your GCWR for the Chevy?? Thanks for the info, we're picking ours up this weekend and worried about the capacity on our Dodge 2500 Cummins. Ours is a GCWR of 20,000 lbs. I know the engine will pull it just fine but want to stay 'legal'.
