Advice for South Texas & Arizona
We are starting to plan a trip to South Texas and Arizona for this coming January and February. Does anyone have any areas of the states and/or campgrounds they would recommend? or to stay away from! Appreciate any advice.
Regards,
Steve

We're planning on leaving Mobile on January 1st and heading west for a few months as well. We'll be watching this thread also.

I assume you will be taking the southern route at that time of the year.
Just remember when you hit west Texas and New Mexico not to pass up a chance
to get diesel. Towns tend to be few and more wind mills than people. Have fun
we are planning on leaving our Montana in Las Vegas for the winter and commuting
for a week a month.

Steves we stayed at Mission Tx. 2 mos. lasst Jan. & Feb. Went to Memphis I 40 to I 30 to Dallas & down. You will find a lot of CGs in any city in the Rio Grande Valley. Most are real good. We stayed at Blue Bonnett & Mission West. Both are good. You pay a monthly rate + electric. Not sure if I can post the price or not. If you have any other Questions send me a private message.

Hi We spent a week right on the beach at S. Parde Island Last February. It cost $18 for a 3 week permit to go thru the gate. The rest was FREE. There are a few things to watch out for. Don't go into the soft sand above the high water mark. Spent 4 hours trying to dig out truck and 5er. It was UGLY. From the high mark down to water is no problem. We were given advice to set every thing on boards as if the water comes up around your rig it will be sucked down into the sand. Already having been down in the sand, we went to a hotel construction site and picked up some plank scraps. It worked great as the water did come under us on two occasions. You will never find a place to comp as close to the water as you can there , especially at the price. We will go back again for sure. Dan and Sandy

For what its worth dept. Check the road work between Texas & Las Cruces, NM on I 10. They were suppose to start widening the highway this year. IT really needs it! Also, if going that way, you can take a side road, south side of I 10 thru pecan groves.
Very scenic from Anthony, TX to Las Cruces, it comes out at Old Messia in
Las Cruces & easy access to I 10. Bypasses all that road work. Also,
El Paso West RV Park is at the Anthony, TX exit on the side road to Las Cruces.
