Water heater igniter not sparking

Trying to light water heater on the propane side, I don't hear the igniter sparking like I have in the past. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On mine the switch inside the 5'er by the tank level gauges has to be on. Might be a place to start. Jim

I had no spark at the hot water tube nor could I hear the clicking when the igniter was trying to start. I have a 3400RL and the hot water tank is under the counter. Also located there above the hot water tank is a circuit board that controls the igniter and also the red lamp on the switch. The first time the circuit board had failed and I replaced it and resolved the problem. The second time the igniter was not clicking, the wire from the circuit board to the igniter at the gas tube on the hot water tank, had come loose from the circuit board. In each instance the "clicking" was missing.

I hate to ask this, knowing you most likely checked already, but on ours there's a little black switch located on the heater itself (on ours in the lower left corner). Both the switch inside and the switch on the heater both have to be on for at least electric operation. The time this happened to me I was trying to get it to work on electric so I don't know if it would stop all function or not. I'd turned it off by accident when I changed the anode rod. If it's not that checking connections to the board would be my next move.
