Removing/Replacing Sofa
We have a 2006 3475 that we will remove and replace the sofa-sleeper with 2 recliners. Can the back of the sofa be removed for taking the sofa out of the RV? I plan on removing the mattress to reduce the weight. The backs of the recliners are removable.

Sorry Tim, I can't remember if the back came off or not. I have to think it did but we never removed it (others have though). If worst come to worst, a Sawzall will do the trick.

They got it thru the door (I assume) so you should be able to get it out that way. We took out a chair, and with some manipulation you can turn it, etc and fit it out.

Are you wanting to keep it after removal or toss it in the trash?

Probably the same sofa/sleeper we have in our 2006. The back does not come off. I helped a friend remove a sofa sleeper from his unit, not a Montana. We removed the cushions and the mattress first to lighten the load. It easily went through the door by standing it on end. Base and arms went out first then rotated 90 degrees to get the back out. Pretty easy job for two people.

Plan is to bring the RV to our home (about 7 miles), hook up power so we can extend the slide outs, remove the sofa and install 2 recliners. According to Lazy Boy salesman, the delivery guys will do that for a few more bucks! Sure will save my back and I am currently recovering from rotator cuff surgery--re attached the bicep tendons using 4 metal inserts. Healing is going great but I will not attempt this job!
Thanks for all the ideas!
Tim

This is one of the reasons to have a Sawzall! Makes easy work of furniture removal, or anything else for that matter.

Sofa back
With our 2003 3280RL the sofa back lifts straight up and off. You might have to hit it with a hammer to break it loose.

Final solution. I drove the rig out to our favorite RV Shop and they will remove the sofa along with other maintenance tasks. Thanks for all the great hints!
