Goodyear G614 out-of-stock

We got back to our S&B last night. Today we went to buy G614's because I had spent part of our time away reading the info about Marathons here and my peace of mind is gone. Our Marathons are 5 years old and we have put over 10,000 miles on them since we bought our unit 1 1/2 years ago. So the Marathons probably have about 14,000 miles on them total.
2 questions - our current (Marathon) tires are ST 235 80 16. Discount Tire says the smallest G614 is a 235 85 16. We have a small Montana I guess - it's a 2010 model 2955. Can we replace a 235 80 tire with a 235 85 tire? Or, is a smaller tire available? Will anything happen if we replace an "80" with an '85' Can we use the same rims?
We checked the rims and they must be the newer ones because they have 110 psi stamped on the inside.

2nd issue is that the G614's seem to be out-of-stock. Backordered for 4-5 weeks. We will be leaving in 5 weeks and don't know if they will be in by then. Does anyone know how to find out who has them in stock?
And then of course, there is the price.
Any help would be appreciated.

Put a good name brand set of LTs on your Montana and tow with confidence. And your wallet will love you for it.

We installed Michelins XPS Ribs(LT tire) to our 09 2980RL and love the tires. We feel safe and after weighing the rig we saw the Michelins were right on for the weights. GY 614 would have been overkill for the rig and our pocketbook. You have several LT tires to choose for your rig. Search some of the tire threads for info.

To answer your original question, yes the 614's fit with no trouble. As to what to do, you could call Goodyear customer service and ask who in your area might have a set or, as stated above, the lighter rigs have several good LT tire options.

If you have 6000 lb. axles, you can go with an LT tire and save a lot of cash. The lighter Montana's seem to work fine with that set-up. You also have large selection to choose from.

I had about 32k on my six year old Goodrich Commercial TA's. Just replaced with the same tire. Why argue with good past performance. They still looked almost new and performed well. Just an age thing. My rig like yours is lighter and don't need the heavier G614's Jim.

Another plus for LT tires is if one fails you can get a replacement just about anywhere.

We had the Goodrich Commercial TA's on our previous lighter Montana and they certainly would work well on your current 2955. We currently have the g614s on our heavier 3610 model and so either would work.

If you went with the g614 tire and you traded up in a year or two to anything heavier than the 2955 you would be able to switch over your slightly used 614s to the new rig without buying again. Good luck with your decision.

No need for G's on a 2955RL! I have used Uniroyal HD/H LT's on my 12 year old 2955
Never had a tire failure.I would recommend a simalar tire from any of the major tire manufactures

When the time came to replace the tires on my 2955, I went with Firestone TransForce HT's. Good tire for that rig. You do not need G614's on a 2955. OEM tires on my 2004 2955 were lt tires.

Have you tried Wingfoot Tires. They are all over the US. We didnt have any problem getting the G 614's last month. Good luck.

All the LT 235/85/16E will have a 3042lb load rating. But you will find a lot of difference in the construction. And price.

I went with a all steel tire that weighs 59lbs. About $1000 for 4 out the door.
