High Gloss Exterior
Is the high gloss exterior option something that is worth getting?

In my opinion , yes it is worth every penny. I had a 2002 with out it and my 2004 has it. It's like night and day. If you ever had the two side by side it's very obvious.

Sure is...all the high end units have it (most as standard equipment), looks great and is easier to clean.

We had high gloss on our 2003 Montana and ordered it on this one, too. In my estimation the value depends on the owner. It is not necessary. However, it sure looks nice, black streaks come off more easily, it cleans up more easily in general.
The high gloss will not yellow with age. It will still be shiny after several years, with just normal care.
The downside is 200 lbs more weight. And the cost.
But it still comes down to personal preference. It is not essential.

I don't have it but I wish I did. It makes the unit look a bit more upscale. If I get another Montana some day it will have it.

I am on my 2nd Montana and neither has had Hi-gloss. I can say the next coach I buy will have the Hi-Gloss option! Amazing at how much nicer it makes the coach look.

We ordered the high gloss option on our 2955, and love it. As others have said, it makes the rig look better overall, and it's easier to keep clean.

Did you try the little "Trash Can" icon right above this line? RVWheels
Sorry for the double post. Tried to delete this one, but couldn't figure out how.

We are looking at the high gloss as well - does anyone know if Montana got the cabinet door issue resolved? Are they now high-gloss as well or still filon?

My first Montana had the filon siding, the new one has the hi gloss and it is great!

On my rig, the only door that is high gloss is the entrance door.

We have had two units with the hi-gloss. Most of our friends do not have it. We did not order our new Monty with the hi-gloss. Couple of reasons...a little bit being the cost factor, but over all, not really a big factor...mostly because we felt it really just didn't matter. Yes, we like the looks, but, the doors are not hi-gloss and having had two other units with the same situation, the doors look bad when they yellow and the rest of the unit looks pretty good. I don't know if they are making all the doors hi gloss or not, but if they don't have it, it really does look bad after a few years. This won't be our last unit, and probably will have it only a few years before changing again. It is strictly a personal preference. Of course, after we get it in, we may go, geez, why didn't we get the hi gloss????

If Montana would just listen and offer full body paint jobs the high gloss doors would not come into play, everything would be painted and clear coated.

Broome101,
I have been saying that for a few years now. After talking to the reps at the factory I dont think we will ever see a full body paint job. URGH!

Even the partial body paint like the Big Sky's used to offer would be nice.
I read in a thread from Tara I think that Keystone said it was $10K for full paint, and $3K for the partial paint. That was why they don't plan to offer it for the new Big Sky type models. I wish they would let us choose and worry about the cost!

I cannot believe that a full body paint job would run into the $10,000 dollar range. Especially when there are other 5th wheels out there that offer it, heck they will even custom match the paint code from your truck to the coach for much less. I could see a $2-3 thousand dollar tag, but $10k seems out of the range.
I will also confirm that I heard a full body paint would be approx. $10k per coach from a rep as well.

I imagine a quality full body paint layout would be very labor intensive, require a spray booth and slow the production line process quite a bit, so the costs mentioned don't surprise me at all. JMHO
