AIRBAGS & INSTALLATION
I'm thinking of getting a set of airbags for my TV to hoist up the Monty an inch or two. My TV has no sag to it but the front legs are very close to the ground & a couple of times they slightly dragged coming out of a site.
Any suggestions on a good brand of airbags & where to have them installed. DO NOT suggest Camping World.

How would I raise the hitch ?? Do I use spacers ?? Is it easy to do ?? Better than getting airbags ??
The Moyre pin assembly on the Monty is as low as it can go.

Should you decide to move the hitch ... you can either raise it by its own adjustment holes in its frame, or move the pin box down via its own adjustment holes. Either way accomplishes the same ... higher nose of fiver. If you do go the air bag route ... I put on Firestone airbags myself. It's an easy install even if you go with the onboard air compressor some kits option with. OK I reread and see you are already in low holes on pinbox ...

My previous Pullrite Super 5th and my current Reese Elite hitch had multiple bolt holes in the side allowing the upper part to be set at three different heights.

Agree with the excellent advice, make sure hitch adjustments are done,. Having done that, still needed air bags on our dually.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the help. Tomorrow I'll check the hitch to see if it can be raised. But even if the hitch can be raised, should I still consider getting airbags ?? Would it make the truck steadier ?? Or would it be a waste of money??

I added Air Lift brand bags to improve ride on my F350 SRW and like them better than the Firestone bags I had on my 2007 Ram. Bags are "beefier" than the Firestones and very easy to install including on-board air.
PacBrake also makes a nice kit. Search "chucksahunter" on eBay. I bought a PacBrake exhaust brake from him and he is an honest seller with 100% positive rating.

I also used the Air Lift air bags, leveled out my truck wonderful, took about 3 hours to install, alone with the compressor, works awesome.
agree with the others you should look at your hitch first, sounds like that is what needs the adjustment..

I've had Firestone Ride-Rites on my last three trucks. Simple to out on. With the last two, I've also had a Viair 10007 onboard air system and love it. I can change pressure with changing road conditions.
As far as brand, Firestone, AirLift, PacBrake or Hellwig, not much difference. All do the same thing. Firestone was on sale at the time and have been very happy with them.

There is no height adjustment for the Pullrite Superglide hitch. So I guess it's airbags for me.

Just something to think about. If your tow vehicle does not sag like you say, then using air bags will raise the rear above level ride height thereby transferring weight to the front wheels. Not good on brakes and suspension.
Again, just something to think about.

I'd guess his truck does settle a bit when he sets the Monty on it ... never saw a truck that didn't load up near a couple of inches with a fiver on its fifth wheel plate.

I had Firestone bags under mine with the on-board compressor. Worked really well. One side benefit that I never considered was that if I got stuck towing after dark I could add a little air and my headlights were not shinning up into the sky. Truth be told about 90% of the folks out there towing won't have properly adjusted headlamps once they hook up.

Have never regretted getting the airbags. Firestone had a product specific for my truck, no drilling, bolt on application, even had a heat plate on one side to protect the airbag from exhaust heat. Took me a Saturday afternoon to install myself. Stops any bouncing or tail sag, once that fiver pin weight is on the truck. Last month I was in the Fredericksburg VA KOA, and they had me on a site that required me to go up an incline to get out. Was worried about my front levelers dragging, so ran the airbags up to 100PSI, and that was just enough for the front levelers to clear the ground and for me to get up the incline. Otherwise would have been faced with a tricky backup to get out.

We have had firestone airbags on both our Trucks both dropped 2/12 to 3 inches with the pin weight on the hitch. It was easy to bring it back to level. Firestone installed both sets.
