If my memory serves me correctly, about a year ago there was a thread on this system. I would be concerned with the additional length plus I would certainly want to know how many states it would be illegal in. Many CG's are hard enough to maneuver around in with a 39' Montana without having the extra length of that contraption. Plus after setting up on a camp site you have to figure out if there is enough room for it to stay under your fiver or would you have to unhook and try to find a place to stash it.

I would lean more toward scaling my rig and if too heavy then putting it on a "diet". If that didn't work than a dually would be in my future.

If was me, I would trade-in on a truck that would handle my trailer and rationalize the $11,000 towards off-setting the cost of it.

Yup....my thoughts too. My truck will be fine. But if I put any more "stuff" in the trailer, I might be looking at a dually

My concern is loosing traction on the tow vehicle with no weight on the rear wheels. Flat surface may work fine, but any steep incline could be a problem.

Not sure what to think of this but I know it ain't for me. I want nothing to do with MORE wheels than necessary.

Sorry but I just can't see it!!! I visualize snaking down the highway in a strong crosswind. As was said just like pulling a farm wagon to me.

I considered this hitch too. Novel approach...just costly.

The entire weight is on the hitch, not on the truck bed. This is certified as an additional axle. Per the mfg., length is legal in all states. Backing is the same as if the hitch was in the bed. When braking the added weight on the pin is applied to the axle which has additional hydraulic truck brakes to aid in stopping. The added length will add stability allowing me to purchase a short bed truck that will fir in my garage. Going from a 3500 to a 2500 will also go a long way in offsetting the cost. The only apparent downside that I see is the fact that there is NO weight in the truck bed for traction.
