Tire dating

I'm going to replace my Marathon's with Goodyear 614 tires. My question is when buying new tires, what is a reasonable manufacturing date that is acceptable for "new".
Thanks

For me they have to be within the last 4 months.

I would not want a "new" tire to be more than 6 months old. When I put new Michelin XPS Ribs on mine, they were less than 6 weeks old.

Tom, some good input on your question. I like 4 months or less tire dates.

I would suggest a couple of items:
a. call Goodyear Customer Service and relate to them about your Marathon tire accident and can they assist you with some
customer help on buying new 614's and taking the old ones off your hands with some kind of monetary trade, etc.
b. When you actually get ready to purchase the 614's tell the dealer you want fresh tires and whatever date you would be comfortable with before your purchase. When the dealer orders, he can make that an item with the distributor.

Good Luck. Dennis

Recently I looked at tire dates on new 2015 Montana 5th wheels that are still on the dealers lot. Some were built as recently as 3 months ago.

They had Goodyear 614's on them with tires dated 2012.

I asked the salesman about it and he stated that Keystone purchases tires by the trailer load and it is not unusual to see new units delivered from the factory with 2+ year old tires.

Sorry John. I am not buying what that guy told you.Keystone makes so many RV's that they know just how many tires to buy. They never have tires left over from a previous year. They know how many of everything for any given year to build RV's. If you were to buy that rig i would make him change the tires as part of the deal.

My 2013 BigSky started Feb. 2013 and came off the line April 2013 with Goodyear 614's 4 months dated. I guess that would really be 2 months from start.
