Thetford Mystery Leak

We are finding water in front of the toilet every few days. This is not every day. We notice the mat on the floor for stepping out of the shower is wet. This mat is not up against the toilet and back from it about three inches. We notice the wet mat but there is no moisture around the toilet. There is not a lot of moisture but is on the mat edge toward the toilet. This is not just after showering. Yes, know we should replace with Dometic but are on a six week trip. It doesn't seem to be the vent in the ceiling. Any suggestions besides replacing with Dometic?

If your hose is too short and your pump is too weak, stand closer otherwise you’ll pee on your feet!

I know, it’s not helpful at all. But the opportunity to use it comes so rarely.

Mark that's bad but I was thinking the same thing! Check the foot flush that is a common problem we had that same thing happen to a friend of are's thetford and it flooded their rig. You need to get rid of the problem before it floods yours rig!

If you could purchase an dometic locally even though it is cheaper on line then you could replace it in less than an hour. If you are staying at an rv park for at least an week then get it delivered there or get it delivered at an rv park that you will be staying at ahead of time. PPL in Houston is the cheapest place to order an Dometic 310 or 320 toilet. Good Luck.

Put a water shutoff in the line at the toilet and keep it off unless you are flushing....then change out the crap per when you are home.

Mark, after prostate cancer and surgery, pee like a girl! Wonder if when we press the pedal causes the leak on occasion. Will press and hold to see what happens. This doesn't happen every day. Really, after two problems early on, toilet has worked okay for two years. If replaced will definitely install a cutoff. Don't want to change the toilet and then find it was another problem. Looking to see what else it could be. Has to be the toilet but stranger things happen with these campers! Thanks,

Have a theory, the water line coming in to the back of the bowl has a "baffle" valve that sprays six streams of water down the sides of the bowl to better clean and empty the toilet. Notice this plastic piece was tilted to one side so one stream is higher on the bowl. Now, could not get water to come over the top and on the floor but adjusted to be more toward bottom of bowl. Have a water pressure regulator on the outside facet. Wonder if some times the CG pressure changes so that misalignment of the baffle was spraying some water outside the bowl onto the floor on occasion. Okay, guys have at my theory! No water on floor in four days. Yes, need to change to dometic but rather wait until have the wheel bearings serviced when rig is taken to local dealer.

That's a good theory but if you have a pressure regulator it should not change in your 5er I could see the spray baffle doing it if it was pointing way up the side of the bowl! maybe it was coming from the shower door check the track drains just keep an I out. Don't trust them thetford toilets at seen tow meany problems with them.

Okay, it has leaked around the base. Called a mobile repair guy to at least install a cut off valve. Anyone replace with a dometic 310 or 320 on a 17 3611? Talked to dealer back home and he thinks it is most likely a plastic valve behind the toilet. Said valve is easy to replace. Thinking of maybe having the plastic valve replaced along with the cutoff to get home so can replace with dometic. These toilets are junk! Of course, one year warranty is up.
