Campground in San Antonio, TX
We are headed to San Antonio for a few days - does anyone know anything about Traveler's Campground which is downtown??? We have read different reviews and question it. We have stayed at Brauning Lake Resort just south of San Antonio but wonder how close this is to downtown? The Traveler's one seems questionable, apparently in a not so good part of town. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Where in San Antonio do you primarily plan to visit? Blazing Star is located on the far Northwest side by Sea World. It is somewhat pricey but is a very nice park with concrete pads. Just north of San Antonio is Stone Creek RV Park. This is also a nice park. On the north side of San Antonio near Boerne is Fiesta RV park.

We recently stayed at Admiralty RV Park, which is near Blazing Star, both are a little pricey but convenient to the main roads into town. Admiralty has almost all pullthroughs.

We will be headed into San Antonio from Rockport (Corpus Christie area) and then home on 35 North. We plan to go to the Riverwalk. Thanks for the info.

Depending on what you are looking for. In san antonio, the closest and nicest is the KOA on Gemble road, ab out 4 miles from downtown. Up the street from them are two others, Dixie and another. Dixie I would avoid, too many long termers and animals. The one next to it is a great park for a very reasonalble rate. If you are looking for a resort, then go to Blazing star or Admiralty. All three on Gemble road have bus service to the door , going to downtown. Sure beats the prices for parking down there.

We were in Traveler's World Park for four months and loved it. The owners/managers were very nice and helpful. It is a straight shot of three miles from downtown and you can catch the bus on the street in front. The neighborhood is not the best but we never felt unsafe in all the time we were there. If you are interested in biking or jogging there is a trail from the park right behind Traveler's World. Also a good place to walk a dog. I am sure everyone has their favorites but we will always measure other parks and their managers by Traveler's World.

Thanks for the info - we did stay at Travelers in San Antonio - was fine - spot was a bit tight - but we were gone during the day anyways. The bus pickup right across the street worked well for getting downtown and back. Of course, being from the Mid-West and in the "country", the bus ride was a "different experience". We would stay here again if in the area for sightseeing.

We've stayed at the Travelers World - been quite awhile, though. We used the bus system to go as far as Fiesta Texas and as close as the Alamo and the Missions. It used to be a Jellystone Park and still had the Yogi Bear statue when we first ewent there 15 + years ago !!

I have stayed at travellers and second what charlott said. Directly across the street is a little Mexican cafe that has excellent food. another benefit to Travellers is that if you enjoy the nitelife on the Riverwalk a bus or taxi ride is a short one.
