Figured I'd better go ahead & do it!

My almost new but old Ford has tires with only 38k miles on them. Look like almost new, no checking & soft sidewalls. Getting ready for the trip to the Rally and then to NM and AZ, so I figured I'd better not wait for one (or more!) to blow out since they were all made in the 11th week of 2006. Got a good price on six new General Grabber street all-seasons and they're going to be put on tomorrow morning. May even get a little better mileage as the old Firestone's are all-terrain.

Never hurts to err on the side of safety.

I agree, just changed out my OEM tires even though they look like they have a lot left in them. Between sitting in the sun all year and already having got 45,000 out of the it was time for new ones.

Good idea. Our truck tires were 6 years old and when the front left blew we took a tour of all lanes of the freeway and the 5th wheel was totaled. We now have new tires to replace the old ones.

Had a chance to drive around a bit on them - don't know about fuel economy yet, but they are certainly quieter than the all-terrain stock ones. Ride a bit smoother too, and that's at the same 80 lbs pressure.

What kind of pressure do you plan on having when not pulling Monty?
