Tom Sawyer is back open

We stopped here for the evening and were pleased to see that Tom Sawyer RV park in West Memphis is back open after being flooded last month. Fantastic location, right on the river, on the river side of the levy. About 3/4 of the CG was underwater last month and they have done a great job of cleaning it up and getting things back up and running.

Dave, You might want to check out the Argi Center at Germantown Rd. and Walnut Grove Rd in Memphis. Lots of room hundreds of RV sites and a lot safer area of Memphis (East Memphis).
Great eating placing all around.
I would be very careful of leaving Tom Sawyer RV park anytime after dark.
But I'm just a retired cop from Memphis, what would I know?

LOL, thanks for the advise but we are only here for the night. We had a long drive today and are eating in, not even unhooking. We like the CG and the view but will file the advice away for future use... Dave and Betsy

We stayed a night at Tom Sawyer in January on our way down to Houston. It is a very nice park. We enjoyed watching the barges go up the river. Hugh, I appreciate the information about safety after dark. We were only able to stay one night but probably would stay there again when we go to Houston next year, so we will remember this warning. This is what the MOC is all about!

We like staying at the Tom Sawyer Park and watch the barges going up and down the river. We noticed it is kind of a rough area to get there after dark. We tried to find some Diesel after dark one night and felt apprehensive of the surrounding areas. Whenever we come thru that area we make it a habit to spend a couple of days there by the river. You pay a little extra to stay next the river, but is worth it. We feel safe at the Tom Sawyer Park.

There are three truck stops that had pretty good diesel prices right at exit-4, Pilot, Flying-J, and I think Loves. We used Flying and got a 3 cent break with the card. The RV pump on the right has a very tight squeeze getting in and out, the have huge concrete cylinders in front of and behind the pumps and the one on the far side of the pump we used had been bumped into our lane about 3 feet. I would say they weigh about 5 tons each. They are 5 feet tall and 40 inches wide. I had to scrape the right curb to get by that damn thing. Other then that it was a nice truck stop... Dave and Betsy

Glad to hear it's open. We will be arriving tomorrow 5/22 and will stay through Memorial Day. We were here 4 years ago and will be happy to stay in the new 5th wheel part of the park.

Well,
We got here at about 1430 hours and about 30 minutes later "Ruth," pulled into the spot next to us. We have only had time to say hi, as the dogs need walking the Hanna's have to be set up, etc., but hopefully tonight we can sit around and chat.

Tom Sawyer is a very nice park with all the amenities except "cable," but local TV is good.
