Lippert Electric slide out noise

On my 2003 315RLS Mountaineer TT. Last week when opening the single large slide, I noticed several pretty loud noises. Almost like it could be a gear slipping a cog. It would do it about every 10-12 inches of travel. It did the same thing when closing the slide. Another item I noticed on this trip, the floor carpet at the side ends of the slide is compressed about 3/8 of an inch. The compression is the deepest at the wall of the trailer and almost goes to nothing toward the center of the trailer. The slide has always been hard to move. It takes several tries to get it to move a couple of inches when first starting to open. Since the slide has an automatic clutching system, could the slide be adjusted to low, thus dragging, causing the clutch to slip thus making the noise. My next step will be to watch the gears from underneath the trailer to see if a gear is slipping. Any problems is adjusting the slide up 1/4 inch (both sides equal) to see if this helps?

In working with Dale and doing some testing, at his suggestions, on my slideout on my 2003 Mountaineer 315RLS. It was determined that the electric motor moving the slideout was weak. One thing that was key was that when first trying to close the slideout when fully extended, the motor would stop. If the motor was at full power, the automatic clutch should have slipped. Testing with fully charged batteries and shore power connected. After the slide traveled the first few inches, raised from the level position it seemed to move OK. A new motor/clutch should arrive the first of next week. When testing, the noise was gone. Why I'm not sure, may have been the clutch slipping a notch. I hope this fixes my problem.
They now have an optional motor. The orginial has an 18:1 ratio. The new motor has a 28:1 ratio, It will be slower with more power. Assuming it will always move the slide, I'll put up with it being slower.

It was a very pleasant experience working with Dale in solving my problem.

Slideout motor/actulator replacement. The 18:1 motor was removed and the new 28:1 motor installed. The 18:1 would take 50 seconds to move the slideout out, the new 28:1 takes an additional 30 seconds (total of 80 seconds) to move the slideout out. When moving the slide in with the 18:1 motor, the motor would stall, clutch would not slip. The new 28:1 motor moves the slide in without stalling, the clutch did slip a couple of clicks. This is the frist time I have moved the slide in without the motor stalling.

Many thanks to Dale in helping to solve this problem. It's great to have a factory rep that will work with the customer on problems.
