Remote Malfunction

Went to my storage area today to begin the install of a second battery bank. The remote did not work for the slides, or anything else for that matter, except the scare lights. I thought this was weird. So I went inside and used the panel to extend the slides. When I was leaving, just for fun, I tried the remote and it worked again as id nothing was wrong. Yes the battery in the remote was replaced last month, the 12v battery in the Monty was fully charged. I have no clue as to why it did not work when I arrived, but did when I was ready to go. I did not do any electrical work, just mounted a battery selector switch without disturbing anything, and bolted down the new empty battery box. Any ideas.

I had this happen to me...I had to pair the remote with the control box. The instructions are on the control box above the batteries. I had looked through all the manuals looking for the instructions before checking the box...directions were there, clear and easy to follow.

I'm sure you are aware that the remote control unit must be TURNED ON before the slides will work. The scare light will always work but all other functions will not work unless you activate the hand held unit. Check this web site for Lippert Industries, makers of the remote control for Keystone: http://www.lci1.com/LIP/0113.pdf The first three sections of the instructions cover turning the unit on and off, and the security light function. It has complete instructions for the remote unit. Hope this helps.

I will add that I had a intermittent problem with getting the control panel to turn on. It turned out to be the ground wire as it goes thru the molex connection to the control panel. The dealer was never able to find it because they would wiggle everything and it would make a connection for them. Once the weather gets nicer I will get out and fix the problem once and for all but it is one more thing to check.

Slufoot733 Thanks for the manual link, I didn't get one with the unit. I knew about the scare lights, but it's a mystery as to why it failed and then later started working. Didn't have to pair it up or anything. Oh well. Good info.

Just like computers, they're great when they work. But when they don't...OUT THE -*-*-*-* WINDOW!
