winterizing water heater

Figuring that I won't be making another trip in my 2955 before winter I blew out my water lines with my tire compressor and drained the water heater via the anode rod plug.

I thought about this for awhile and got a siphon hose to see if I had any water left in the tank. I was surprised to discover that quite a bit of water remains in the heater tank when drained. Will make sure to siphon every time I winterize.

I had a small siphon hose with a built in bulb to prime the siphon process.

I don't think the water left after draining will hurt anything if it freezes. I have always just pulled the plug and never had any trouble.

Same here. The shape of the tank will ensure a little water won't expand anywhere it can do any damage.
