Safety Belts ?

We're finally going to start carrying our two large labs.
My question is, how many of you actually use safety belts for your large dogs in the back seat. I am worried about them getting all tangled up.
I am open to any suggestions.

We have used the belts they do get tangled.

Small dogs have the benefit of going in crates.

They have those saftey belts for sale in dog/pet stores/urls/ etc.

I take it from kdeiss's response, they did not have the best success.

I firmly believe in protecting the animal and the owner, maybe consider one of those dividers that go between the front and back seats.

Since our pom is so small, he's harnessed and clipped into his booster seat. The seat is designed for small dogs and is fastened into the truck seat just like a child's booster seat. We tried the crate, didn't work. Left him free, didn't work. This works for us and I know if we should flip the truck he'd be safe--the harness works just like a 5 point harness on a person.
