slider oil container
We went to our 5er a couple of weekends ago and when checking there was a lot of oil in the tray the hydralic fluid container for the slides sets on. We wiped it all up and the slides seemed to work fine and we couldn't see any leaks when operating the slides. The container is about half full of fluid. Is this something we need to be worried about or did it just expand this winter (froze?) and run over.

With the slides closed, the oil (atf) should be about 1/2 " below the top. Suggest you fill to this point and Mark the container with a pen. You can then tell if your losing fluid. Very likely watch you see is remnants of spillage when the unit was installed. Good luck!

We had the same problem: bad seal on the pump. I'd go with Thunderman's idea first.

We just had our slide-out pump unit replaced with a newer one still under warrenty for the same reason. I believe the slide-outs are 5 year.

jpkelpe,
I see by your signature you have an '05 Model. If the fill/breather cap on top of the oil reservoir is yellow in color, it is a Parker pump. Do not waste any money to add ATF to the tank. Clean up as much of the fluid as you can and watch it closely. If the fluid returns to the spill pan, the reservoir is leaking where it connects to the pump.
At that point, you need to call me at 574-537-8900 extension 4303 and ask for Dale. I will get you set up with a whole new pump at no expense to you.
Your hydraulic system and any of the components used to operate your rooms are under warranty for 5 years from the date your coach was built. You don't need to call Keystone. Just call me when you determine this to be the case and I'll take care of it for you with no pain.
Have a good day.

MIME, Thanks a lot. will check on the color of the cap when we go to where it is stored but I do think it is yellow. we are taking it out for a 4 day weekend April 23 so we can test it out then. I will call if problems arise. Talk about service--this is a fantastic site.

Hi Paul & Jan
Your rig is the same as ours and we had the same problem I believe. The tray was oily also, I cleaned up the oil to see if it was spilled oil and not a leak. I have used our slides several times and it is still dry. I think when they filled it, they probably spilled some. I did have to add a little oil but it all looks OK.
We also changed our thermostat, the old one has to much variation in the temp. this one works GREAT it's made by Hunter. There was a thread on this thermostat, only $20.00 at Wal-Mart.

I just took my 3400 in this morning, one of the fixes on my list is the leaking of hydraulic fluid in my tray, I showed it to the service manager, and he said we will fix it. It sounds to me like this is a know problem, has Keystone sent any information out to the dealers???? Are the pumps defective, if so I will demand a new replacement, if you know let me know. Thanks littlespud

littlespud,
If your dealer or Keystone doesn't correct this issue, you will need to call me. Look at my last post above dated on the 19th. The issue is not with the pump. It works fine. There is something else that several other members in this forum may already know about.

I have an 04 3650RK, just looked at it, and I too, had a little oil in he pan. However, I did not see any signs of leaking, and the reservior still looked like it was full. I have the yellow cap on my pump.
