91F in Yuma today. What a switch. Last year at this time it was -20, and we were in the process of selling our house. Loving missing it that cold with snow! Just hope when we head back up to Alberta we don't get one of our spring storms and cold weather!

It is beautiful here in Georgia this weekend. The temps have been in the mid-70s and I am able to piddle around with the new Monty is short sleeves. I certainly hope the weather is this good when we take it out for the first time next weekend!

Wordsmith,
I've been very cautious of how I speak since you joined us and I love your "piddle around". I thought that was a Mid-West term but I guess it goes a little broader than that. I am originally from Kansas and my family uses a lot of wonderful old sayings.

That's a very natural expression for me--heard it all my life, but then some of my great grandparents came from Georgia, the rest from Tennessee.

And I should say, in faithfulness to this topic, that the weather yesterday was surperb! And has been also today. Got up to low 80s, but we are expecting a cold front to moderate the heat just a bit. The flowering trees are coming into full blossom: redbuds, wild pear, but azaleas and dogwood are just getting ready to open wide.

Parrothead, you do not need to worry about watching your “speech” around me! I am only tough on my students and myself—especially myself. In fact I am kicking myself right now for the spelling error in my post a few up the page.

I am a southerner, and therefore, an heir to a wealth of colloquialisms, but like you say, they do extend further than we sometimes like to think.

Looks like we have a storm approaching, but we are thankful for two gorgeous days of blue skies and warm weather.

Under the giant pile of snow in my driveway was my Brand New truck..dug it out today(Sunday) had it for two weeks , has less that 4 hours on the motor..took it for a drive on the interstate..trying to get a few miles on it. Drove out to Lake Erie..Somewhere under that ice IS a Lake. You could walk to Canada.....We are going for a record snow seasonal depth this year (Cleveland, Ohio) of 101 inches...we are at 98 now more on the way..spring is just a few days away.....
