MOR/ryde LRE System lubercation

I hear everyone talking on these sites about greasing their wheel bearings & wet bolts, etc. Being new to this thing of RVing I thought I would ask some basic questions.

1) We have approximately 5000 miles on our 2011 Monty. These are easy miles in that they are 95% highway miles not exceeding 62 to 65 mph. At this point in time do I need to be greatly concerned about any greasing procedure ??

2) I checked the MOR/ryde LRE brackets & there are three (3) grease fittings per wheel. Two (2) per wheel on the center hanger & one (1) per wheel on the front/rear hanger. That's six (6) per side. I only see dicussions about four (4) fittings per side. Why is that ?? All fittings face straight outward. How does this compare to the 3 & 9 o'clock positions everyone talks about ??

3) Do I need to jackup the Monty to grease these fittings ?? How do I jackup the Monty ?? By the frame ??

That's it for now. Sorry this is so long.

Larry I would grease these points annually. In some instances some owners have found they were unable to get grease into one or more of the wet bolts. That seemed to happen on the hanger end and not on the MOR/ryde LRE fittings where there are the two fittings.

My 3402RL has (6) per side and I actually had 3 missing fittings, the rest were only finger tight. The originals facing outward were difficult to grease so I replaced all of mine with 90's to make it easier to grease them.

Units not equipped with the MOR/ryde would only have 4 fittings, one at each spring hanger.

Personally I see no reason to jack up the Monty, I do not.

If the wet bolts are correctly installed you shouldn't need to jack the trailer up. Dexter recommends greasing the wet bolts every 3,000 miles

No need to jack it up, I just greased all mine on both sides in about 15 min with No problem You GOT to have a flexible hose on your grease gun to make it easy to get to the tight fittings you can buy a flexable hose at any auto parts shop for a few bucks, the flexable hose also works great for hard to reach zerks on U joints, front end and suspension on your Truck

Get a good quality flex hose of about 18" long with a good quality grease coupling and oddly enough 90o ftgs of good quality.

Lincoln or Alemite are good. Yes there are cheaper but half the time they don't seal properly and half the grease ends up everywhere you don't want it and not in the pins or whatever.

Lincoln makes these grease gun tips that screw on in place of the regular tip ... they work pretty well. It slides over the grease jerk from the side so you don't have to swap out straight jerks for 90's. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/LIN...&cm_vc=IDPRRZ1

I am having my bearing repacked and the wet bolts grease now--in preparation for our late summer and fall travels. I estimated the RV towing at 5500 miles for this trip. I do this annually--I believe it is the best safeguard against any serious problems on the road. In my 7 years of experience towing about 6000 miles a year--no issues--I recommend the repack and wet bolt grease maintenance annually.
