We arrived.

Finally we have made it to the valley and are getting settled in to site 522 at Bentsen Palm Village.

Good to meet up with some of our old MOC friends, and meet some new ones.

Our trip down was uneventful, and we thank everyone who contributed advice on our routing. We used bits and pieces of advice from different people and it all worked out well. The wind was a noticable factor for us too. The strong south wind on US 77 into Victoria really cut into our fuel consumption, but an overnight shift to north wind allowed us to fairly sail down 77/281 from Victoria to the Valley.

Bill and Ann's "back route" into Mission really worked well, thanks for the tip Bill!

Here is a routing contribution that we found that is not on any map that we own. There is a new highway (future Interstate 45) that is currently called 545, that runs from Texarkana towards Shreveport, it parallels US 72, and eventually ends and joins old 72, but it is a really slick way to get a good part of the way from Texarkana to Shreveport. 72 joins I-220 north of Shreveport, it is an easy, fairly smooth ride from 72 to the Flying J.

Again thanks to all the MOCers who provided routing suggestions, especially "Padre David" and "Bill and Ann".
