Tire Covers?

For years I've used tire covers to try and prolong the life of my tires. On our 614's it didn't work and I should have replaced them at 5 years anyway. Since the slides on the new rig almost cover the tires from most angles I don't think I'm going to continue to cover them on the new rig. What do you think?

They keep the wheels/tires clean and they also look good. They do protect the tires when the slides are closed for extended periods. Totally personal preference. Some like them and some don’t.

Guess I should have mentioned that we full time so the only time the slides aren't out, the tires are moving.

When I park mine for the winter i use them. During the summer we are always on the road so I don't take them with us. It may keep them from ageing to quickly.

When our slides are out and that is most of the time the slides pretty much cover the tires.

When we are parked for more than a week at a time, we usually put them on. If it’s less than a week, we don’t use them. I don’t mind the little time it takes to put them on, but it is one more thing that has to be put up before we hit the road.

Have never used covers. And my 10 yr old 25,000 mile Michelins have no weather cracking and still look new. And in Tx HOT summers including driving on trips in 105+ temps. We are sometimers and the Monte is stored under cover.

Note that due to my wife's mother's health we did not use the Monte at all last year and only once the year before. New tires going on before this season.

I see no need. I don’t use them on my truck, car or camper. The tires on my F250 are 6 years old with no dry rot. The next time I pull my camper with it they will haft to be replaced anyway.

Sunblock for tires?

Is there such a thing as “sunblock for tires”? Something that can be sprayed or applied to the tires to protect from sun damage?

I use 303 Aerospace protectant on the tires and the 3791RD to protect from UV. I also use it on my vehicles on all non painted parts including dash and interior plastic/rubber parts. It is water based so it will not dry out/crack rubber or decals!

Covers and 303 Aerospace protectant

We too put the covers on if parked for longer than a week. We use 303 on the tires and non-painted parts of the truck as well as the rubber roof and sides of the RV. To each his/her own.

Covers go on my LT tires for 2-3 months at our summer site, then home 5-6 months over the winter. Too many other things to do when traveling since we seldom stay more then 2-4 days in one place

I uses 303 Aerospace because it is not petroleum based on the trailer tires and also use covers if not moving for a few days. I try to keep our tires as Happy as possible because they have an awful lot of responsibility.

I eliminate the need by telling her to take the dog for a walk and come back in 20 minutes as soon as the 5er is parked.

Don't use wheel covers, we have warn out one set of 614s with no issues and have started on second set. I suppose if milage/wear is low over several years with a lot of setting still then maybe good to use them if slides do not protect with shade.
