Dometic Refer Problems

My refer has quit working on gas. The electrical part appears to be working fine with 1 Degree in the freezer and 39 degrees in the main part. When I switch to gas, the power light and GAS light come on but there is no cooling. The CHECK light doesn't come on either.

What do you think? Thermister? Mother board? Clogged gas jet? I hate to take it to a $100 per hour service tech, but I may have to do just that.

I'd take it to a professional. Your safety isn't worth guessing at.

A couple of things you can look/listen for: When you switch the fridge over to propane do you hear an audible indication that the automatic ignition is trying to light the propane. If you can hear this and it does not light then there may be a problem with the ignition. The flame must also be present long enough to heat the thermocoupler or it will not remain lit.

Whenever we run our fridge on propane we can hear the burner, but not necessarily inside the RV.

If you are trying to use the fridge on a recently filled tank then it may be that the air in the lines has just not passed through the system yet. Light your burners on your stove for a few min, then retry the fridge.

Just a couple of thoughts. Propane of course is not to be messed with unless you have a pretty good idea what you are doing.

Hope you don't have to spent the big bucks for a tech.

If Ozz doesn't jump on here soon, give him a PM. He's the HVAC man in this group.
