Replacing water inlet valves

I am replacing the worn out plastic water valves with new brass valves. The replacements came with pipe dope and teflon tape. When removed, the old ones did not have either. Are these compression fittings, and do not need tape or dope? Or, should I use the tape?

Also, any reason I can't use a valve that has the check valve for my black tank flush inlet? The original did not but I don't know that it would matter?

Thanks!

Bill

The fittings that have the cone washers don’t need tape or dope. For the one used for the black tank flush, just pull out the valve with a pair of pliers. You will get better water flow without the valve in the fitting.

If you decide to remove the anti-siphon valve as most have, I would leave the check valve in place in the black tank flush.
