Basically, I'm like Glenn and do not believe in extended warranties. Never buy them on a vehicle. Having said that, we did get one on the Montana...for a number of reasons:

- This thing is not a Honda, and will not last like a Honda.
- Since we are not full timers, the long periods of wear and tear followed by long periods of sitting, in my view, are worse than using it all the time.
- In seven years (the warranty period) I am very confident, some high dollar item(s) will break...read the forum posts. Refrig, half time oven, TVs, stove, heater, pumps, converter, slides, landing gear, water sytem, furnace, washer/dryer, etc.
- Covered all over the country with $100 deductible.
- For less than $200 a year it's worth it for piece of mind.

The day we signed on the dotted line if somebody had said, "all systems and all appliances in this thing will work perfectly for seven years," we'd have laughed at him.

Thus the extended warranty.

Well after being out of warranty for 5 months, and Keystone not stepping up to the plate for us, we used our extended warranty. Our out of pocket cost was a $75 deductable verses $305. What broke after an actual 5 months of basic long weekend use were the brackets that hold the electrical wires for 3 of the 4 slideouts. Keystone knows that they are flimsy but I guess it keeps their costs down. Now our dealer will only guarantee them for 90 days, I just laughed and said they for sure will last that long as the Monty will be back home in the barn for longer than that.

We also have the warranty. Felt that we were spending alot and know that nothing is perfect. Our friend had to replace his fridge and it cost him well over $1000.00. Warranty would of paid for that if he had purchased it. Sometimes it will pay off and other times you might be extremely lucky and not have one problem.

I'm usually not a believer in EW's, but since I paid cash for the truck and 5er, I figured why not go the extra mile (tee hee) and get the EW on both of them. They're big ticket items, and after dropping over $90,000 on them, whats a few grand more to ensure they're protected? The 5er has seven years Star coverage which also covers the tires on the trailer AND the truck. The truck (Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Quad Cab 4x4 Turbo Diesel)is covered bumper to bumper for 7/100,000. I usually trade in a vehicle after a few years because I get bored with them, or I don't want to drive something once it's out of warranty. But these, I'm keepin' til they die or I do...LOL Many of you are right...it's a crap shoot. But, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I have used my extended warranty and it has paid for itself and then some. The warranty has paid for brake failures and complete hydraulic line failures. I own a 2004 3670 RL. I now have axle problems and they are about to pay for that. Keystone refused and AL-KO refused to fix my axles. The dealer recommended the warranty especially due to the slides. Refrigerators and AC units are not the only things that can break!

That is a low price in comparison to others..Do a in depth google search. What is important is who are the backers of the E.W, Banks, Insurance companies, etc. Warranty Experts, The Choice, RV protection. can be compared to Insurance agents who sell various policies. Your agent sells allstate auto insurance but it backed by Allstate. Warranty Experts for example is actually backed by RV Shield..which in turn is backed by several banks and insurance companies. You might start by calling the nice folks at Rv protection..I think his name is Scott... We have Warranty Experts. It takes a lot of homework to make the proper choice.

That is a very very good price...so good I'd really check out. As Rich said, see if you can find out who will honor it, that'll be the key when you are off on a trip and something breaks.

I have "The Choice" and highly recommend it. I know more folks with Class A motor homes than I do with 5th wheels. In talking to those who have the $350,000+ dollar rigs, I found that most of them have "The Choice". I figured if it is good enough for those who long time or full time and they trust it to cover their expensive rigs, it should do just fine by me and my Montana.

Rodney,
All my paper work for them is in the coach, which is put away for winter. Here is the 800# I have for them, hopefully they will be able to get you to the right person. 800-863-6740 If that does not work let me know, the F&I guy at my dealership said he would be more than willing to help anyone out interested in "The Choice" plan. Does not matter if you bought a coach from him or not.
