Transfer switch for Generator

Hello,
Newbie here.... 1st 5th wheel. 2011 347tht. Trying to figure out where the transfer switch is and is it a manual switch that has to be flipped when going between shore power and gen power? what is the procedure for starting and using the generator. The gen is an Onan 5500 LP. the previous owner never used the generator and there was no paperwork in the camper.

Thanks in Advance!

Look behind the bulk head in the basement. That is where it was on our '07 3400 and is on our 3720. Switches automatically when generator starts. Propane on, prime for 10 to 15 seconds then start. If it has not been start for a while , check oil as low oil will not allow it to start. You can get a manual from Cummings.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I have question along the same lines. We have a HC 310RE and we go camping a lot (called boondocking on here LOL). I use a portable 6300 watt Yamaha generator with remote start/stop, When I turn generator off with the remote there is this awful sound from the transfer switch that sounds like an arc flash. I have quit using the remote until I can figure out what to do but really like the convenience of it. For now I just go out and unplug trailer then turn off generator. I am wondering if a EMS/ surge protector would help?? Anyone have any ideas??

Just a thought but since the PO did not use the generator, have you checked the oil level before you start it?
