Tool Box to fill the step hole - Montana Owners Club

Just installed the Lippert steps in our Montana, has anyone came up with a tool box to put in the spot where the old steps used to be, other than the Morryde tool box? Not impressed with their box and would like to see if there are other options besides having one custom made.

If I get rid of my current steps for either the lippert or morryde steps, I will make myself a fiberglass box to fill that resulting hole. As a sailor and having done lots of glass work, this will be a fun project. What did I just put in my head...

Removing my steps was a total pain. Putting in the MORryde box was a piece of cake. Just took her out this past Memorial Day weekend and was first time to use the box. Small, but enough room for two sets of plastic leveling blocks. Can't fit anything else in there.

Just remember, the box is difficult (if not impossible) to use once your steps are down. So, keep that in mind for what you plan to store there.

My new 'tool' box arrived Saturday about 10 minutes after we left for the weekend according to the FedEx website and is sitting in the garage for a few days.

Whatever the size/capacity, it's better then looking at the unused springboard OEM steps taking up space

I kind of like these. If you happen to park right next to a swimming pool or lake, you can get a nice high dive into the water.

Approx, 26-1/4x10x10. If you use your own box, don't forget that this one includes a pair of mounting brackets aand hardware,

Mine wont be installed until next week but am making a couple changes - the lock is that dratted CH751 that everyone in any CG has a key or several. The supplied fasteners which have no head markings will be changed out to Grade 8. The new 5/8" (16mm)long lock is from Home Depot and was less then five bucks with NYs 7% sales tax.
