Place settings for ___?

Now that I bought my first RV yesterday, a 2011 Montana 347THT (yay!), I want to start moving things out of my condo and into my RV with the plan to full-time.

I'm single, so I don't need a whole lot for dining, but what is the recommendation for how many place settings to bring? The dinette is a 4-seater, do I bring place settings (plates, bowls, silverware, glassware) for 4? 6? 8? Or just 1 or 2 for myself, and then if I have guests they can use Dixie plates, chopsticks, and Red Solo cups?

How often do you wash dishes? I would think at least 4.

Honestly -- when I run out of dishes.

Wishfully -- once a day.

We go with 4. If more people show up then we move to plastic/paper plates and utensils. Those are light weight which is a good thing.

I thought 4 would be enough for the 2 of us in case we get company. Only 4 chairs at the table. Wifey insists on 6....

We have 4 of everything! I agree with CaptnJohn. We only have 4 chairs so that's our limit. Any more than that and they bring their own dishes.

At home we eat at the table. Camping, we eat outside. Well mostly outside. Well mostly outside if you do not count eating out. How many camp chairs are you packing should be the question. Also whatever you end up with for the number of settings, multiply that by 1.5 for the correct number of wine glasses.

Depending on the trip we will often leave a chair or 2 at home, but the number of wine glasses never goes down.

Ever notice RV dining tables are designed for stick people with no elbows?

Seems like place settings for 4 is the way to go. Then keep some paper plates and plastic cups for extra guests. For wine, that usually just goes in my spaghetti sauce or beef stew recipe :-)

Wine? That's what we do when it's time to go home!
