Google maps driving directions in 3D flyover

Am I behind the times? Or is this something new. While playing around with google maps, I noticed a small icon labeled "3D" to the right of "Driving Direction to xxxxxx" after you put in a starting point and ending point and click on get directions. When I clicked on the icon, it automatically started a 3D flyover of the entire route, start to finish. Doesn't always give a good perspective of elevation changes, but still pretty good view of expected terrain and scenery.
Had never noticed that feature before.
For a good test, try putting in "Ouray, CO to Durango, CO" and get an arial trip along the Million Dollar Highway. Or pick a route you know will get some dramatic scenery along the way.

Tried it with my MAC and it wouldn't work for me, even after following their instructions.
