Pin Box Hitch Cover

Over the years there have been stories about people finding all kind of surprises in their pin boxes from birds, bees, and snakes. I just ran across this cover that may be useful in avoiding these problems and give some protection from the weather. It's a little pricey, but could solve those problems.

Good idea. But WOW! Pricey is right. Have never had any thing get in mine. But if I do I will just stuff something cheap in it. Can’t see them selling a lot of those.

I used thin sheet aluminum from home depot, lowes, etc to create a cover that slips onto bottom and up the back. Held in place by using thumbs crews that go through aluminum on each side and into T nut in block of wood attached over one of the holes on each side of pin box.

$200...must be (or should be) Sunbrella. If so, it will last forever.

$200 ouch. I saw that somebody stuffed pool noodles in the back side of pin box. I was getting birds nesting in mine before.

I just got a seat cushion from Walmart and stuff it upright into the back of the pin box.

Had a persistent bird at our last campsite. I removed and bird nest about 2/3 complete after seeing him fly into the pinbox. Next day, same thing. Next day, same thing. I finally stuffed some cardboard into it. But need a better solution. Seat cushion sound good.

Found a nest in mine couple months ago at my seasonal spot. Came up with a simple solution for me, and a couple months later no visitors as of yet. I used black gorilla tape on the big opening in the back and a small piece trimmed smaller on the front opening. Cheap fix so far.

In my part of the country it's wasp building in the pin box. Learned the hard way to look closely before putting hand in pin box.

We had a bird nest in our old unit. A 6’ black Snake made a lunch out of them and got my attention when he slithered out at the campground

If a snake doesn’t eat them and you move while chicks are in nest then your going to have smelly dead chicks to remove!!

Just be careful if you ever remove the A/C shroud!
