Access to zerk fitting on wet bolts
Question, my fittings face toward the tires which makes it very difficult to greeze them without taking the tire off. I even bought a movable coupling for my handheld greeze gun, but did not help much. Wondering if anyone has changed out the zeros to an angled one to make this task easer. If so was it difficult to accomplish? Did it help?

Been there done that. Changed all mine out for 45 degree zerks. Works great and is simple to do. It is also easier to get grease in if the wheels are off or almost off the ground to release the pressure on the suspension.

I just gut it thru and am able to force the grease gun end (on rubber hose) into place and eventually get them greased. However, I don't think I have ever been able to grease all zerks on both sides without jacking up an axle to grease the last one on each side. And the last one is not always the same one!!

You can get a grease gun fitting that slides on from the side. They actually stay on better.

Another option, which takes a bit more effort, is to remove the bolts and turn them around so the grease fitting face to the inside, and that then requires you to crawl under the rig to grease the bolts. It also forces you to look over the suspension while you are under there.

When I upgraded to the heavy duty shackles and wet bolts I did exactly that except for the one in the middle

Maybe it was faulty, or it wasn’t on all the way? We used them to tighten the tentioners on the tracks of bulldozers and other heavy equipment.

The straight zerks also frustrated me. Tried the slide in from the side grease tip and it mostly leaked grease. Changed all to 45ş zerks and now its a pretty easy task.
I also use the hydraulic lifts to raise the side I'm working on. I had to learn on my own that the grease wouldn't flow through most of the bolts unless the weight is off the bolt.

I also had trouble with the fittings, 2 days ago I was talking our 2017 Montana 3791RD to have the wheel bearings repacked when on the highway the rear shaklel which is part of the Correct Track system just blew off the trailer. I don't know if it was lack of grease or the bold just failed. The center of the system is Morryde but the Correct Track is all Lippert.

Thanks Skypilot, got the unit back today along with the bill for 1,035.00 parts and labor. Good Sam warranty will not cover it cause it was not pre approved. They said I should have gone to another garage, cause the garage I was at will not deal with warrantys because of being burned in the past. I said do u understand this was suspension failure, I could not go anywhere else. they said u could of had it towed, I said what the hell was the difference if I towed it or someone else towed it. unbelievable.

Fred S: Anything to get out of paying a claim I guess. I've always had extended warranty/service contracts but have wondered if they would pay when needed. So far so good but who knows what the future will bring.

I try to grease mine about every 3000 to 4000 miles or so. Typically I do about 2-3 squirts.

i actually just finished greasing mine, getting ready for trip to custer state park for some hiking. I'm able to get at mine with regular grease gun with the tires lifted off the ground. In between bearing packing, about 5k miles, I like to spin the wheels and give the bearings a quick 4 or 5 pumps before a trip. I grease my wet bolts before every long trip, i only take 2-3 trips a year besides to the local campground
