Slide pump reservoir

I went out last week to remove the battery and found all the oil from the hydraulic pump reservoir laying in the catch tray under the pump. Trailer has not been used for about a year and the slides have not been opened for about 6 months or so. Had no problems at all the last time we used the trailer. It was winterized and put in storage last winter and now is sitting in our driveway (for sale). I'm thinking maybe a seal dried out and all the oil just leaked out?? In any event I need to fix whatever the problem might be before spring arrives, soooo, any ideas what might be going on and what do I need to do to fix. Thanks

Probably going to have to refill it, put pressure on it, and watch to see where it comes out. Since it all leaked out, you probably will not have to wait long to see it start leaking again.

Could be leaking where the reservoir connects to the pump, there's an o ring in there

You're also gonna have to make sure the system is bled somehow. I've only heard about that requirement but don't know how to do this. You do not want any air in the system.

I'm real sorry to hear about the mess. I can't imagine that mishap and hope I never see it. Please post how you get this resolved.

Your hydraulic slides are self bleeding as in cycle them full out to full in about 3-4 times. This will work the air out. The oring is hard to purchase outright, but several automotive supply stores or tractor supply stores can make you one up if you supply them the old one. Any cheap ATF fluid at Wally World will work for you.
On edit ... if you reservoir is horizontal, some of us have placed a piece of foam or similar under the outboard end for support.

I tried a new oring and the reservoir still leaked. I bought a metal reservoir that stopped the leak. I think the plastic tank was deflecting between the two bottom bolts, probably overtightened the bolts when replacing the oring.

I had the same issue. Was a hairline crack in the plastic reservoir. Sent in the old one direct to manufacturer and they provided a replacement free of charge.
