How many use the Bedsaver?

Just got a scary post about an 80 year old man who died when his fiver came down on him as he was unhitching/hitching. One of the replies qwas a link to the BedSaver device and I was just wondering how many Monty's are using it?

Looks like cheap insurance if you ask me!

Thank Goodness we have one. I had read a post about someone that had pulled their rig about 150 miles and when they stopped found out it wasn't properly connected to the hitch. Nothing happened to them, Thank Goodness But that day I looked up the website and ordered one. When we were in Reno the beginning of September we had hitched up and were leaving the park. When all of the sudden kaboom, the trailer broke away from the hitch. That bedsaver works. It caught it. The kingpin hit so hard that it bent the 1/8 metal frame. Scared us half to death. Imagine what it would have done to the truck? Thank goodness we hadn't left the park yet. But I would say get one. $175. is alot less expensive then the price to repair the damage that trailer will do if it drops on the bed of your truck. It took Paul about 1/2 hour to install it. Now that is what I call cheap insurance.

Ive heard of the bedsaver (to late for me). Does anyone have a pic of one. I would assume (know what that means)lol that it would take up more of my truck bed. And will all the STUFF :-) that I already carry I might have to leave some of it at home.

powerstroke73, It doesn't take up that much more room. We are able to put alot of stuff in the back of our truck. I even have my scooter in back of it. Here is a picture of the bedsaver and the website. It is carried at most of the dealers. It comes in black not yellow, they did that so that you could see how it works. Watch the video on this website and you will see what a great insurance policy it can be.

I installed the bedsaver when I first had the hitch put into my truck. I must tell you that it is worth the price you pay for it in comparison to injury or damage to your truck bed. I think the only draw back to it is that you will need to lift your Montana up a little higher to get it past the bedsaver hitch. I have seen several pictures of damaged beds and have seen at least 3 at different RV resorts that we have been in, I do not want to be one of the guys with the damaged truck bed or damage to my Montana.

It sure looks like it would have saved my truck. I was real lucky I still had the landing gear down some so the only thing that got messed up was my tailgate. It still shuts but not quiet right lol.

I have seen them but I am not even sure they would fit on my PullRite SuperGlide. With the locking mechanism on all of the PullRites it is nearly impossible to not get a complete locking on the king pin each and every time. Once the lever locks into place the hitch is 100% locked in place no ifs ands or buts. Just another plus for the PullRite hitches.

We have the Bedsaver. So far, thankfully, it has not been tested but I have read so many testimonials to it that it gives me some peace of mind.

As has been mentioned, it does occasionally require an additional extention of the landing gear in order to get the bedsaver under the pin when hitching or unhitching. I regard that as a small inconvenience when compared to the consequences of a hitching error.

I enjoy tinkering with metal fab, so I just completed my own version of the bed saver.

I've seen several pickups with damage from a dropped 5'er (including a personal friend of mine). The extra peace of mind will be welcome.

Go to www.blueox.us We saw one at the FCRV national and will have one installed when we get the new camper and hitch. Don;t know if there would be local dealers..never checked that out but you can have it shipped and installation is a no brainer.

Bought one in May of this year from RVupgrades and paid $167.00 with shipping. Took all of one hour or less to install. I wouldn't leave home without it!

MY BEDSAVER ARRIVED TODAY! I have one thought to introduce here. If you, like me ,remove your hitch frequently , this addition will add 37 pounds to it. I'm still glad I got it ,but will not be taking it off so often---Dave

Welcome to the forum, lindaka. It's always nice to find a topic where you can relate, but this isn't the best one. Sorry about your big repair cost but I'm glad you've got the bedsaver. It's a great safety device.

Glenn, I didn't go to the site again, but I thought I read that there was an adapter for the SuperGlide if you were so inclined.

Probably a "Good News, Bad News" situation, Dave. Bad News (I always ask for that first) is the extra weight. The "Good News"... if it weighed any less, I be suspicious of it's ability to stop (or even slow down) the nose of a 14K+ 5ver.

I also have the Superglide and ditto to Glenn. Just love the way Pullrite builds their locking mechanism. When its locked there is no questions or doubts.
