New Rig
We picked up our new to us 2008 2980RL this afternoon. We will be taking it out this weekend on a test run. This is our third fifth wheel but there are a couple of things that came on this one that I am unfamiliar with such as the satelite system and the Lippert auto-leveling jacks. They seemed to work great at the dealer so hopefully I won't level my truck in the process. It looks like I am going to have to invest in some air bags also as the new rig really weighs down the rear end on the 2010 F250. All in all we are really looking forward this new fiver. It seems to be much better made than the two entry level fifth wheels in the past. We hope to see some of you on the road.

Here is a link to Lippert's leveling manuals, just need to figure out which one you have:

Not a lot of 2008 Montanas have the Lippert Level System and the Satelite System.
You might want to PM HoboBob And Mynabird (MOC name Mynabird). Sounds like you might have
their previous Montana, they recently bought a new 3402.
If so hope you enjoy it as much as they did.

Congrats on your new 5er. This is a great place to come with help for any problems that should arise. We look forward to your future posts.

Welcome. If you have the auto leveling system please be sure to move your truck away from your 5th wheel before hitting the auto-level button as the 5er will dip down in the front to its starting level which is usually below the trucks bed rails.

Helmick,
You were right. After a small amount of research I did discover that we bought HoboBob's and Mynabird's unit. I am glad that they had a good time in this rig and hope that they enjoy their new rig even more. I will PM them.
Thanks.

Rsimas, I think you will find that Bob and Mina are super nice people. We've spent some time with them in a couple of places around the country. I'm sure they will answer all your questions about the 2980.

Coincidentally as I was reading this topic, Bob and Myna spotted our rig and stopped by to say hello. They say to PM or email them with any questions you might have. I believe Myna said she had found all the original manuals that came with the rig. She was going to drop them off at FLRV next time they were in the area. Since FLRV has sold the rig there is no reason for them to hustle back to Sacramento (we are all in AZ right now).
