Monty gets New shoes for Christmas 2013

Our Monty is all smiles this evening for New Michelins XPS Ribs and TST 507 was installed today. Discount Tire took get care of us. Tires were dated 3113 all four. I thought we had a bad rim but after the tech tested the rim he said the "china bomb" was ready to expire. I had two Marathons separating which was not visible from the outside. The new tires look great and I cannot wait to hit the road. I removed the tires and wheels, tossed them in back of truck, had Discount mount and balance, and return home to install the wheels on the unit. I was not towing the clean and shiny Monty in the rain today!

UPDATE: We enjoyed a 250 mile trip this past weekend. The trip was our first since the new tires and TST system was installed. I did notice an improvement with the new tires. I was able to raise my hitch one notch since the tires raised my height. I like this for the extra space between the bed rails and Monty. Since we endured rain slick roads I felt more comfortable knowing our rig was better equipped for the highway. I was very happy since the tire temps on the Michelins were considerably lower than the Marathons. I do realize outside temps can affect temps. I thank each one of you for sharing your information to help us "newbies" make our Montys safer and a better unit.

Congratulations on your new tires, the peace of mind will make towing a lot more pleasurable.

Thanks Dick. MOC people like you have shared valuable info here so I could make an informed decision. If not for the forum I would not have known of the "China Bomb" syndrome or how a tire monitoring system is an asset.

Smart move, being proactive rather than reactive. The people on this forum know of what they speak. Good decision on the TST, also.
