100lb Propane Tank Connectors!
Why can't the RV manufacturers make "universal" propane connectors and adapters, so that you can hook up a 100lb tank without driving all around the universe looking for connectors? I have a 2006 3500RL and the street side regulator takes a different connection and the curb side takes a totally different connection. I have the tanks hooked up, but I had to vent somewhere on how much trouble it is just to find the right connections. I went to three RV dealers, Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Propane Company, True Hardware, Campground Store and finally found a part at a small RV dealer that just cost $1.09. Couldn't believe I wasted all that gas for something that cost only $1.09 My question to any full-timers....how difficult was it for you to hook up 100lb propane tanks? Allison

I bought a six foot gas line to hook up the 100 gal tank. I actually just ended up taking the end off the small line and used it with the longer line. I snake the line out the bottom of the tank holding area and hook up the 100# tank.

We never stay in one spot long enough to warrant using a 100 lb bottle. Although I do have the hoses necessary because about 20 years ago I spent 2 years in one spot and I had 100 lb bottles hooked up then.

Well, I guess if you cut the ends off of the short supply hoses that would solve the problem, but I wanted to keep my short hoses intact so I will be able to hook them back up the original way when I'm no longer using the 100lb tanks. The regulator connection on the curb side is the worse to find the right fitting...at least in the 2006 models.

Hmmmm, most any propane dealer can and will make you a connector that just screws onto your tank line. You can actually get two, one for each side and use them on either side that you wish. They charged me 22.00 for mine. If you do, get the flexible line and you can bend it anyway you want.

Didn't cut off the ends of the short supply lines. The six foot line is available at most RV supply stores. It comes complete with the large end that screws into the 100# tank. The small end that attaches to the gas regulator will unscrew from the small hose. Simply use the propane gas rated plumbers tape and screw it into the end of the hose. When you are ready to use your thirty pound tank, unscrew the fitting from the larger hose and screw it into the shorter hose.
