black/gray tank valves
I have a 2014 3625RE, have had problems with front gray tank and black tank since new. Never could get valves to close all the way or open. Now gray seems stuck open and black is stuck closed. Any one know where to order these from and has any information how to replace them. Haven't taken apart yet. Still trying to figure out how to empty black.
These look a little different than I see on you tube. The cable sliding mechanism seems a lot larger than I am seeing on you tube. Thanks ahead.
Want to do it myself because our dealers around here in SW Florida are extremely backed up and don't want any additional problems.

You may not need to replace them. You just need to get the brand off the valve and locate new gaskets. If they need to be replaced, a Valterra valve will work as a replacement. While our rig was still under warranty, we had the black valve break, and Camping World near Boise, Idaho replaced it with the Valterra valve. Hope you can get the black tank valve to open before working on it, as this will be a bad experience for you if you can't. http://www.valterra.com/product/wast.../?pcat_id=1445

yep go to the search function and type Valterra waste valves in and you will find a bunch of posts on this subject(I have posted a few myself)and I have replaced a few valves on my 2012 and 2015 with the Valterra valves that are much smoother and last longer

If you change the valves be sure to put the RV in a extreme nose down position after you have drained the tanks as best you can. This will help keep contents away from you.

Problem might be with the cable pulls rather than the valves themselves since you indicated the problem has existed since new. Recommend you inspect them first when you access the valves. Unhook the cables at the valves, and see if you can open and close by hand.

Im with the others, I had a black tank valve that stopped closing all the way, the factory valves were always hard to pull. I had the valve replaced under warranty with a Valterra Valve, it is now the best one on the coach. The two grey tanks are still the factory valves and are much harder to operate then the Valterra.

Valterra is a great brand which means that the manufacturer may have gone with a cheaper alternative and therefore not as well operating. Whatever the case, you'll want to be connected to a sewer dump and find a way to dump the contents before messing with any valves.
Your problem might even be the valves binding and therefore being difficult to open or close. You'll need to remove any covers under the rig to expose the tank valve assemblies. I have had to do this and don't be surprised if you have to carefully cut any underside coverings to remove them to expose the tank assemblies. Don't do too much cutting since you'll want to put everything back after you are done.
I hope you get this figured out ASAP. Being able to empty the contents is critical for trailer ownership. Besides the obvious removal of the contents being important, you don't want the extra weight of towing the contents from place to place.
Keep us posted. Reading about how others solve their problems is very educational. It just might help one of using our rigs in the future.

Thanks to all who have responded. Was able to empty tanks and flush. Have since ordered the Valterra 3" valves. Will be here tomorrow. After taking off the entire under belly, the only thing I have noticed so far, is the cables are extremely long and flop around as you closed them. They are not secured in any matter.
After removing belly pan, had several feet of extra hydraulic hose and electrical wire fall out all over the place. Some of the runs were over 6 feet too long. Nothing was secured. Zipped tied it all up and made sure nothing was rubbing on the metal components.
I have been very lucking with my unit. Have had it for two years now and no problems so far. Have extended warranty that would take care of this, but would rather do it myself.
Thanks once again to all who responded.

Our 2015 3440RL gray and black tank valves with the cable action NEVER worked after 3 attempts by our dealer failed, they dropped the belly and used solid straight rods to activate and move the valves. They did a great job, best of all NO MORE CABLES!!

Not that the straight rods is a bad Idea or anything but What kind of knuckleheaded dealer do ya have?? 3 attempts to replace and still did not work?? it is not a hard job I have done it 3 times and it always worked great to replace with Valterra valves and cables

I could barely open my black valve last summer on the way to Alaska. Went to a dealer in Whitehorse and they took a look and it and said the screws holding the 2 sides of the valve together were too tight and just loosened them a bit. I was skeptical, but it did work after that. Still a little tight but much better. Just something else to consider...

Replaced my cable pulls with direct pull threaded rod as well. Posted a year or so ago with specifics on how I did all four of my tanks on our 2015. Took a Saturday afternoon and a trip to lowes for reroute material.
