Bogus survey from Keystone

Kathy received a letter from Keystone inviting her to participate in a survey online. SHe went to the URL, couldn't find the survey and was redirected to "Questions about your Keystone". She was invited to ask a question to a "guru". When she started this process, she was asked, "how much is this answer worth to you?". Which she would be charged if the answer was satisfactory. She backed out in a hurry. Anybody heard of this?

I think I would call Keystone and ask them about it. I would also tell them what happened. They should know if there is anything amiss.

Never heard of anything like that. But this is the INTERNET so anything is possible. Sounds like a scam to me. Be interesting to see what Keystone has to say.

Certainly nothing "in" it for Keystone so I'm guessing something is amiss.

Let us know if you discover what is really going on.

Thanks,

HamRad

If these crooks would spend half as much time working as they do trying to figure out how to scam someone they would be rich.

This is a scam. In most cases you can look at the url it has directed you to and tell it is phony. I recently received an invitation to download MS Explorer 7 for the MAC. The URL pointed to Brazil. Sorry, Microsoft is in the US.

What you can do:

Depending on your email client, you need to view the "headers." Headers are not the from and to line that you see in the email. In Outlook, you need to use the options feature and somewhere in there you will see the header. Highlight it, copy it, and then do a forward of the original email. When you have clicked on FORWARD, paste the header into the top of the email.

This is what a header would look like:
(You read from the bottom up for the trail of delivery)

TOP 10 VIDEOS

=============================

When you have prepared your forward, send it to:

ABUSE@WHEREVER.COM (In my case, and the above is not the email, I sent it to abuse@microsoft.com

Also, you can send it to POSTMASTER@WHEREVER.COM (Send it to both to make sure they get it.)

If they are interested they will act on the information. They may even send you a reply.

Remember, the Secret Service has been working the Nigerian scam for over 20 years when it started out as letter mail and has progressed through FAX to EMail.

You mentioned it being a "letter" so was that a hardcopy letter? If so, I'd suggest you send a copy to Keystone and ask about its validity. Sounds like a scam to me, too.

I would like to hear an up-date on this if one is available; especially if you have talked with someone at Keystone!

I could be wrong KathyandDave but the word "guru" doesn't seem to me anyway, to be in Keystone's vocabulary. It just doesn't seem to fit.

Be careful. We think our kids(grandkids) are exposed to alot but I as an adult wonder who is smarter, me or our grandkids!! Don't answer that. Dennis

I haven't had a question come up yet that the "guru's" here couldn't answer. I will stick with paying the annual membership fee over a pay for question format. And for those of you who are confused, there is NO ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP fee to belong to the MOC. Just my tongue-in-cheek humor.
