Depends on how many units go thru in one day,

last time we were there, I think they said a unit that started in the plant on Wednesday afternoon, would be OUT of the plant by THursday afternoon.

Carol, I don't remember there being that many stations. They said they do 22 a day now so they would have to have 22 stations. Now you know I could be very wrong here, I've been wrong a lot !
Now that I reread your post, that is whet you are saying, looks like about 8 hours or less.

I also did not think they have 22 stations..doesn't seem so but as I remember the stated time frame sounds right. They only work 8 hours a day so at 22 per day that would be 3.75 units per hour.. unbelevable...

Not sure bout the number of stations, 22?? maybe, don't really think it matters??? The main line has "X" number, but, they take the slide rooms off to another section of the plant to build them, and then take back to the line.

All my cloudy brain remembers is that it took a little over the 8 hours to get from frames entering the building to the other end where you have a Montana.

Again, not sure I remember this right, but, I think they move a unit from station to station every 15 minutes???

I have no idea either and even if we knew how long a unit is in the assembly process, it wouldn't mean much. many of the parts are pre-assembled. Roofs, sidewalls, frames with axles, rims and tires already mounted, etc. If you just want to know how long it's in the assembly process, I seem to recall the same as Carol, in one day, out the next. But don't hold me to that.

I don't know the time line but stations can be combined, as there may be three or four things being done by different assigned specialist at once. I know it is that way at Featherlite Trailers of which I am familar with...

Deadeye, you are so right,

we have seen 3 to 10 people working on a unit in one station. A station does not mean one person working on one window, for example,

I just had the dealer call his rep "Mark" then stated that they are now producing only 2 Big Sky's a day. So on the BS arena 4 hrs. is the number now. Hopefully this means fewer mistakes.
Chuck
PS yes I'm comparing numbers Montana, BS & SOB. Future info for the tax man... maybe

Our dealer also said they are only building two Big Sky's per day. I hope they have one ready for next Spring for me.
