Slide out awnings

We got our set-up done Wednesday and Thursday in our new 3400RL.
We stayed in the KOA behind the dealer and all little things were fixed before we loaded up Friday to come home.
Thursday we had 6+ inches of snow. We were warm and toasty.
Friday when we brought in the slides the tops hung up and the bottom kept coming. The awning rollers couldn't roll the snow off. We had to take the slides back out, climb on the roof and sweep off the snow from the awnings then slide them in.
No damage done that I can tell. The dealer said most times the awning roller just dump the snow as it rolls up.
Any others have any problems like this?

We camp in the snow occasionally here in Colorado. Never had that problem. Usually, like the dealer said, the snow just sloughs off when you retract the slides. I got the slide awnings for just that reason. I had to get up on an icy roof once to brush the snow off of the tops of the slides, and decided I would rather not do that again!

6" of snow in Texas, something to tell the grandkids about!

Nope, have not had that problem. Even ice rolls off the toppers. Sounds like the springs are not adjusted tight enough?? At least that is where I would start looking/asking.

That said, when we have ice/snow/water up there, we don't put the finger on the slide retract button and hold in constantly, we put each slide in a bit, stop, then in a few seconds start again. Allows stuff to fall or roll off, ohhhhh, and don't be standing nearby, or you will get wet, or worse yet a hunk o ice on the noggin. OUCHIE

Hey, let us know what the dealer does to fix this will ya???

I agree something is wrong. We've never had that problem and have rolled water off our toppers many times. Also several times there has been snow and/or ice up there and the toppers retracted perfectly.

Either the tension on the roller is incorrect or something is letting water into the roller mechanism and it's freezing in there. I'd ask the dealer to fix or replace while you still have warranty.
