Gas Dryer??

Is there any reason a person couldn't put a gas dryer running on propane in a unit? When I was researching washer/dryer units I came across apartment sized units that were using gas and the question arose. Thanks!

Gas is more efficient and reduces drying time. Traditionally it is also gentler on fabric.

If my electric is included in the space rental and I'm paying for propane, I'm not so sure about 'gas being more efficient.'

I think that would be a great idea. Never thought about it but don't know why it would not work. It has been our experience on long term stays that we are paying for electric. Here we run the hot water tank and fridge on propane since we pay the electric bill.

Your right,it would be better if you are paying for your electric. The only extra set up cost would be the parts to switch it over to run on propane. Whatever you feel comfortable doing, it's yours to do so...

Most all appliance dealers will switch over from natural gas to propane with no additional cost. When we lived in NY we had propane at both the house and motel. Over that 10 years we bought 4 gas dryers and about 7 or 8 gas stoves and not once were we charged for the change over.
The house had a propane stove and the motel had 9 propane stoves, They both had propane heat and propane dryer. The motel had a fuel oil fired furnace and the house was a propane fired furnace.

As far as safety, yes, one more gas line could be considered a safety issue but not one I would be worrying about. In an RV you already have a gas frig, gas stove, gas water heater. Adding a gas dryer ain't that big a deal if proprly installed.

You should look for a manufacture that has gas dryers approved for mobile installation. I would not hook it up like you do in a stick house. A safety gas disconnect would be advisable. Also gas burning appliances in the bedroom area is not a good thing.
