hot water heater
How do you drain the hot water heater after each use of the trailer? I cannot locate any type of drain. I do not want to take the rod out everytime. The pressure release valve only lets out a little water.

I think that the only effective way to drain is with the rod removal.

Rod removal. Just don't cross thread when putting it back in and use plumbers tape over the threads.

do you pull the rod after each use or after a couple of months? I change the rod once a year. Is it ok to leave water in the tank for th year. I do not need to worry about winter frezzing as does not get the cold where I am.

I pull the rod out anytime the trailer is going to set for any length of time that I am not going to use it.
If you don't drain the water heater and it sits you run the risk of the water going bad in the tank. When this happens you will have a job sanitizing the tank with bleach. Whatever happens in there creates a really bad smell. JB

I open the relief valve on the water heater and open the low point hot water and cold water valves and it drains all the water out except very bottom. If you want you can remove the rod then and no water comes out.

The good reason to drain from the anode rod is evident if you look and see all the crap that comes out. I have a rinse tool that gets even more residue flushed out.

I have found it good insurance against corruption and odor forming in the water heater tank - even after only a few days without circulation - to just pull the anode and drain the tank. I bought a 1-1/16" socket, short extension and short swivel head ratchet from Harbor Freight - cheap Chi*#@*! crap - and keep it right in the bottem of the water heater access. Along with a short bit of pipe for extra leverage - works wonderful for easily removing the anode plug. Also keep a roll of teflon tape there too for redo of the plug threads each time. This keeps the hot water tank "sweet" for further use every time.
