That is an easy question to which the answer is YES.

Throughout the year Montana constantly makes changes and not, like auto makers, just at years end. The Montana Big Sky is no different. What you see on the lot today or what you may order will not necessarily be exactly what you may get.
Over the years we have seen many things change from one end of the assembly line to the other. These changes sometimes even include such things as the graphics to the interior colors. Sometimes this can be good and sometimes not so good. But one thing is for sure, whatever you end up with it will be the latest upgrades available and these upgrades do not effect the price you and the dealer have already agreed upon.
For any of the MOCers or even the dealers to even guess as to what will or will not change more often the not is just that, a GUESS, no more no less.

I looked at a Big Sky this weekend. I have yet to figure out what makes it $20,000 to 25,000 more than a Montana. I think a sticker of $85,000 is a bit much from what I saw. I think a Montana with similar options would be 15 to 20K less. Does anyone in here own a new Big Sky?

Virg -

We are thinking about trading the 3400 in during the next year, and were considering a Big Sky. Our dealer thought the difference would be around $5k with the same features. It will be interesting to see if that's right. Our dealer is not stocking any Big Skys at this time. Their feeling is that there is not enough difference to justify the price. Time will tell. I will watch this thread with interest.

We compared the Big Sky and the Montana side by side at a dealer's lot. Since we are going to be full timers, we liked the appearance and the extras that the Big Sky had to offer. If we were going to be weekend or vacation campers, the Montana would have been our choice. As with anything, think of the way you are going to use it and make a choice that is comfortable for your needs.

When you make your decision, make sure you shop around and compare dealers. Bottom line prices offered by different dealers can vary by several thousand dollars.

Ron, Iam not sure what your dealer is thinking but I'll bet that difference is closer to 30k than it is to 5k.

I am not sure what you would pay for a fully loaded 3400 Montana, but I know many of the MOC paid around 50K for their Big Sky. We paid less than 50K and added options at appx dealer cost. I think the cost difference is about 5K if you can make a great deal. I know I have seen many others on here that got their Big Sky for the same cost we did. Bottom line you should be able to order a 2008 Big Sky for 50K and then get a discount on options.

We paid 7K more for the Big Sky than what the dealer wanted for the Montana.

I think that I will have to really check this out at the rally. I hope they have the new models ready for our inspection after the tour again. The last three rallies we have been content with our current rig. I still am not totally convinced that a new rig is in our future next year, but I believe it will be. We will be down to one in college and less than six years to retirement.

Ditto Karen's post. We paid about $5,000-$7,000 more for our Big Sky, depending on how you price out the options. But other dealers are apparently pushing for a much higher price for their Big Skys, so it depends on your dealer and/or your willingness to go further afield to a remote dealer with a better price.

As to whether a Big Sky is worth the higher price, that's the proverbial "matter of opinion." We started full timing on July 1, and we apprecaite things like the larger frig and bigger (and non-Apollo) microwave/convection oven which aren't even available as options on the regular Montanas. If we were just recreational users, it would have been tougher to justify the extra cost of the Big Sky.

We went to a dealer in Portland and their Big Sky's are around 75K with most of the bells and whistles on it. We have an '06 Everest now, but will be going full time in a few years and want to get a bigger fridge, microwave and pantry. We will continue monitoring and checking out the changes in the Big Sky for the next 2 years also and are looking forward to seeing what they come up with. The Big Sky's we saw at the dealer had just about everything we were looking for, except for dual pane windows and 2nd AC, which we will probably have added. But all in all, they are beautiful 5ver's.

After the rally and seeing some of the potential new changes to the Big Sky, we are really looking forward to potentially getting a new Big Sky after the changes are implemented. The people at Keystone also thought somewhere around 5-7k difference from Montana. Terrie really liked the double fridge.
