bike racks on rear bumpers

Anyone have any experience with the bike racks that attach to the rear bumpers of TT or 5ers? I was in camping world yesterday and was looking at them. I'm curious if the rear bumper is strong enough to handle 2 bikes and the vibrations and bumps in the roads. I just put a RETRAX bed cover on the truck and would like to get a bike rack instead of putting them in the bed of the truck.

Hi,

We have a 315 RLS TT with a bike rack on the back bumper. Works great except for one thing. We bottomed out on one trip when we crossed a very domed highway to fast. Sheared off my bungee cords. Solution-we installed a pair of those roller wheels on the ends of the frame rails and that has solved our problem. Like the bikes out back, as you can see in the picture of our rig. (taken before the roller wheels were installed)

Remember that the rear bumper is really not a real bumper.
It is a tube for holding a sewer hose.
It is very thin metal and there is a possiblity that if you weld a reciever to it, it may just tear the metal out of the bottom of the tube.
I speak from expierence, it happened to me.
I replaced the tube with a 4x4 3/16" steel tub.
That was a real bumper.
Traded the trailer for my 3400RL Montana.
I miss my bumper!!!!
