Anyone taken the bed apart?

We have a front bedroom model and want to change the flooring. I know that under the plywood sheet in the storage area of the bed is the slide mechanism, but can you get to the rug to tear it out? Thanks for the help and info!

that board can be taken out(cut it to make two pieces) so you can see the slide mechanism and the carpet is under there. Some have used that space for additional storage

Dick this is what mine looked like when I removed the bed and the storage lid and other top parts in order to re-attach the bed frame to the slide out wall..
This is on my 3402RL and the picture was taken looking from the closet area toward the back of the RV.

The carpet extends under the metal frame and hydraulic assembly. You would not necessarily have to take all that out as long as you replaced that part that extended inside the bed frame.

Note the nice rusty metal that Keystone put into my unit, this has never been wet and obviously was that way when assembled...terrible...

Hope that helps you out.

Thanks Ed, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Dick this pic gives you an idea of what it looks like at the head of the bed and shows where I was reinforcing the frame and adding 3/8" plywood between the frame and the wall to deal with a binding issue in the bed frame being a bit too short when the slide was extended.

The plywood where the drills are sitting is the bottom of the slide. Would have loved to have taken it all out and cleaned up and painted the rusting metal but it was just too much of a job.

Lots of rust on all the metal and terribly poor workmanship in the construction of the bed frame. Fix it yourself and you fix it right.
