We have the same problem with our 2006 Model 3000RK. The entrance door is so hard to open at times it takes two hands to release it. The dealership adjusted it but it is no better. I guess that is just one of the things for the factory to fix next month!!

This subject caught my eye too. I noticed early on that our door would sometimes "stick" a little if I put a little extra cranking pressure on the right stabilizer. Sometimes the problem would appear after an extended boon docking stay where the water was being "shifted around". Of course over time, a small rub indicator appeared on the aluminum thresh hold.
I am certain that I have that little piece of plastic on the bottom of the door. Will check it out tomorrow and remove it. Should get better door seal fit on the upcoming cold weather days too.

This extra piece on the bottom of the door seems to be showing up on quite a few rigs. Is there a purpose for this piece that maybe it should be left on or is it strictly for keeping the doors from touching down and being scratched when being stored? I'll check ours next week.
See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Mine has this piece on the bottom, and it rubs against the threshold hard enough to make a mark. It's just my opinion, but it looks to me as though it's supposed to be there to insure proper alignment of striker and lock, and to keep door weight off the hinges when traveling. The door is a little hard to open, but nothing I can't live with if the plastic wedge needs to be there.

Look under the bottom lip of the door. On the handle side. Should be a wedge shape piece of plastic. Take out the screw and throw it away. Door should work much better. That is what you see leaving the mark on the threshold. Hope this helps. Mooman

I think we need a clarification from Keystone on this. I pulled mine off and it closes beautifully. Mine was making that same mark and sticking badly. Pretty good mark and scrape on the bottom aluminum door sill to be intentional. I pulled my black plastic piece, but did not throw it away. I'm sure not putting it back on - I saved it to show my dealer. I tend to go with what Steve D. brought up:

After going back and reading this entire thread, I also removed the black wedge. Surprise would be an understatement. I didn't realise how hard it was to open until the wedge was off. Thanks Steve.

Pulled our door block off today. Now the door opens and closes very smoothly. I checked to see if there would be any possibility of the latch or the deadbolt binding on either end of the striker slot. Not a chance!
I adjusted the striker for a tighter weather seal and it still closes perfectly. Now I won't be slamming the door or "hunching it up" on those cold windy days to cut the draft.
I sure hope someone does not come up with a solid reason for me to put it back on.
