Furrion Back-up camera pairing

Hey all!!
I'm having trouble pairing the Furrion back-up camera that came with my Montana, I have followed all the instructions and trouble shooting but still have no picture. The signal strength looks to be non-existant (no bars)
Is there a way to tell if there is power to the camera with out removing it and verifying with a multi-meter?

I plugged my monitor up and it immediately worked. Sounds like you camera is not hooked up.

Thanks for the info. Well The infrared lights came on with the parking lights so the camera is getting power. I guess either the camera or the monitor isn't sending / receiving. I'll give furrion a call tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix it.

Olen1957 you say that the infrared lights came on with your parking lights, could the camera be getting its power from the lights? In order for it to operate could the parking/running lights be required to be on at all times? Just a stab in the dark. Also, just another suggestion, does the tow vehicle need to be in reverse for the camera to come on? Tim

Most of the time these backup cameras are powered by the backup light circuit. That way they are only powered when you need it. That's how mine works anyway on a 2015 3611 RL.

Thanks for all the help!! I called the dealer and the camera is connected to the parking light circuit? Said it was that way so you didn't have to be in reverse if you just wanted to see what was back there! Called Furrion also, they are going to send me a new camera / monitor to replace. unit on RV was possibly was damaged or someone could have swapped it out with a defective unit.

I even tried mine this weekend with the Truck setting in the basement of my house and the Montana on the upper end of my house. Probably 100 ft away and it picked up.

Quick comment on this. My camera failed as well. Spoke to Furrion. The camera that Montana is using is a backup camera and not meant to be on all the time. They will burn out which is what is happening. I have a note into Keystone to find out the solution. Furrion does sell and observation camera that can be on all the time but Keystone will need to drive the swap.

I will have to try the light switch trick as I could not get mine to pair either.

Just had what can only be considered an entertaining conversation with Keystone Customer disService. Apparently until a dealer tells them they have paired the wrong equipment with their coach they really don't care. They'll just keep marching on installing the wrong camera and replacing under warranty. Wow. Won't even agree to investigate and get back to me.

Did you get a response from keystone on changing the camera to an observation camera?

Hi

I guess you all haven’t figured out that Keystone doesn’t care about the end user at all.

My backup camera didn’t work when we got the trailer. After the dealer had their electrician (you know the one that I had to teach how to use a VOM) work on it for a couple of days it still didn’t work. Keystone customer disservice told me it wasn’t their problem to contact the camera manufacturer.

So before I called the camera manufacturer I decided to look for myself. I found in the front closet and the rear cabinets a removable panel to access the camera in the back and the antenna in the front. Well I found the coaxial cable that carries the signal to the antenna mounted on the front cap wasn’t plugged in to the camera at the rear cap.

It has been working ever since.

I spoke to an owner at the RV park we stayed at over this last holiday weekend who purchased his 2014 from the same dealer and he has stories just like mine about how they are unable to repair anything.

If Keystone really cared about the end user they would have done something about this dealer using unqualified personnel to repair the trailers.

No reply yet although I've not had the camper in so they can confirm it is broken...

My backup camera is on all the time. How ever they wired it doesn't matter with lights on or off or what. I too called Furrion and they told me the same thing that the camera was not designed to be on all the time, it will burn out. I called Keystone yesterday and they made it sound like they never heard of this before. So the lady there opened a case file about the situation. She said to call back in a about two weeks after there technical folks examine the issue.

I find it interesting that some have had an issue with Keystone Customer service. We have had very good luck with them. I do know that they prefer you work through your selling dealer. Just as Truck manufacturers want you to work through their dealers, Keystone would like you to go through your dealer. Our camera went out (wouldn't pair), and it was replaced with the high speed version. We use our camera while driving, especially useful when judging when to pull back in after passing. JMHO. Good luck. Also, the new Furrion cameras are much different than the older Voyager system. The Furrion is wired direct for power all of the time, with no other connections other than power. The Voyager system was wired to a front puck transmitter, and was very susceptible to water incursion. We bought a cable and wired ours direct and eliminated the wireless portion. The replacement Furrion seems much better.
