You didn't say, but assume you have a water leak. Is it for sure from the windows? How old is your unit?

I noticed on ours that the black material protruding from around the metal flange of the window assemblies has separated from the flange, which doesn't look great, but the seal under the metal is still tight. I don't think there is any actual caulking on these windows. If you need to, probably a good silicone would work quite well.

We had a water leak on our curb side slide, thought it was roof at first, then looked at the front end window, which is tight. Until it rains again, won't know if the caulking I applied to the joint at the bottom of the wall and the plastic wrapped floor solves my problem.

The black material oozing around the windows is generally a butyl type material. If you are going to seal around the windows with a good grade of silicone then you should trim all of the excess black butyl back to the window frame. You will want to tape both the window frame and the rv sidewall with blue painters tape before you seal the window for a neat and clean job.

You need to wipe the joint with some isopropol alcohol to clean the surface well. If you buy the silicone in say a Lowes or HD then try and get a GE product with a long term warranty as this will be a better grade and will last longer.

Make sure you toll the joint well and then peel the tape off and let the joint set up.

Good luck!

Just what we did, trimmed the excess and went over it with high grade silicone.

I have not had a window out of my Montana yet but have pulled several windows on Sunnybrooks. Sunnybrook doesn't use butyl tape. They use a closed foam tape. I would think Montana would use the same as it seals well and easy to R&R a window. The biggest problem the Sunnybrooks had was for a 24" window they would cut a hole 24 & 3/4" and not center the window in opening. On one side of the window the seal would go into the opening and not get compressed.
I was our Sunnybrook club fixer and did several for members.
